I thought it was time for my son to have his own page! You met him on "My Kids" page! They are both learning, and having fun with it. Because of him getting into roping ~ I'm learning all about it! I now know there are definite techinques used if you are a heeler (roping the hind legs of the steer) ~ and a different way to rope if you are the header (roping the head of the steer, and lining him up for the heeler). Amazing the things you learn when you have kids! I'm also learning about different kinds of horseshoes, and what kind of feed does what!
He is now the proud owner of a 10 year old Quarter Horse gelding!
The last few weeks they have been getting to know each other!
So far, Bill has been thrilled with him. He has some things to learn, but he is a real love! Right now ~ easy does it ~ learning about highways ~ mountains to climb ~ and steers! He seems to have "cow sense", and Bill wants to get into roping with him.
They are entered in a local rodeo in June ~ of course, I'll be there!
Bill drops by the house, and gives me these "pearls of wisdom".
Then I kick back and try to digest all of it!
I learned all about softball from Julie ~ now learning about horses and roping from Bill.
See ~ you don't need to go to college ~ just have kids for a continuing education!
Knowing my son, this page will always be in a continual state of updating!
