=^^= THIS IS THE KING =^^=

Would have to ask the vet to know for sure, but I think we adopted Felix from the humane society over 13 years ago. Julie is 18 now, and she was little when she picked him out!
He was a "devil" from the very beginning!

The first time we let him out in the backyard ~ he caught a bird! While wearing a collar with a bell on it!

He was raised with two Labrador Retrievers ~ which he trained quickly! Within a couple of hours ~ they left him alone, and slept with one eye open watching for sneak attacks. If one of them made the mistake of wagging their tail while dreaming .. it was all over. He would leap on it like a mouse!

They got along just fine ... all three sleeping in the sun on the deck.
If he ran into trouble with another cat, he would run like mad to the backyard .. and the dogs would protect him!

Felix is one tough cat!
He weighs over 22 pounds, and can get the meanest darn look on his face!
Even though he is neutered, he has gotten in some cat fights!
I save $100 on vet bills by cleaning his abcesses myself with Hydrogen Peroxide! He hates it .. so have to sneak up on him!
I've learned to be quite good at it!
Of course, I've learned to work quickly too!

Felix is also quite the hunter.
We keep ziploc bags on hand at all times. Make wonderful "body bags" for the presents that are left on our front door step! It's hard to tell what some of them are! I know he is being very nice by doing this .. but Pleaseeeeee!!
A couple of weeks ago ~ while talking with my brother ~ in comes Felix crying! He had a darn mouse in his mouth!
Then he carefully put it on the carpet in the dining room. The stupid thing was still wiggling! After much discussion, my brother put it outside. When he left ~ the mouse was long gone!!
Had one mad cat glaring at me!

After the Labradors, Felix had to train a Beagle.
He found this harder to do! This time it took a couple of days!

Then life was good again ~ he had a new buddy to sleep in the sun with during the day. I would see the two of them stretched out in the sunbeams .. working on their tans!

For some reason ~ I'm the only human that Felix would "attack". If he is in a "mood" and I make the mistake of walking too close to him ~ wham ~ he wraps his front paws (and claws) around my ankle! He never does it to anyone else .. just me!
If I want him to go outside .. against his will .. wham .. I get smacked again! Anyone around me at the time ~ instantly starts laughing as I'm standing there like an idiot with this moose of a cat wrapped around my leg!
I fail to see the humor in that!

Then I brought home a kitten from work. I don't think Felix has ever forgiven me for that. Believe he enjoyed being an "only cat".
He hissed and spit, but it didn't work .. the kitten stayed! So he finally adjusted.
A year later ~ I had the nerve to bring home another one!
Now he was really mad.
After a week, or two ... adjusted again.
Since he is the "king" ~ the other two cats KNOW better then to get in his way at feeding time.
They also have the manners to let HIM go in the door first!
If he decides to sleep in a special place ... he looks at them .. and they usually move aside.

Besides being the "king" around here ... he does believe in sharing.
I have been getting poison oak from this darn cat for years!
He hunts on our back hill .. which is part of a ranch, and all brush and trees.
He must have found a wonderful poison oak bush up there somewhere!
I always have it on my arms and face from petting him.
Then ~ certain times of the year ~ he also brings home ticks! Which freak me out! Hate those little blood suckers!

From reading this ~ you can tell I really feel honored having this cat live with me!

He does have some redeeming qualities though!

He purrs louder then any cat around!

Our house never has mice!

People get excited when he jumps on the deck ~ think it's at least a 3.5 earthquake!! Hee hee .. don't forget ~ we live in California!

So now you've met Felix .. up close and personal ... hope he didn't give you poison oak!
If he did ~ bleach works well to get rid of the itch! LOL

Before I end this page ~ I want to share this poem with you ~ my daughter gave it to me.

Cat Kisses
Sandpaper kisses on a cheek, or a chin
That is the way for the day to begin
Sandpaper kisses ~ a cuddle ~ or purr
I have an alarm clock
That's covered with fur

LOL ... look what Felix did! He applied for membership in CLAW.

He even has a crown now .. the true King!
