NOT SO PRIME
TIME
"LONE
RANGER"
theme-
Hi Yo Silver, Away
This show ran from 1949 to
the mid 50's. Clayton Moore was the Lone Ranger
and Jay Silverheels was
Tonto. Tonto called the Lone Ranger Kemosabe all
the time and at the end of each show someone
always asked "Who was that masked man?" Someone
always found a silver bullet that he had left
behind too.
This was the one show where a
masked man was the good guy, you could always
tell the good guys from the bad because the good
guys wore white
hats.
TONTO

LASSIE(1954-74)
Theme
The Martin
family, Timmy, Paul and Ruth and of course
Lassie.
FURY AND
MY FRIEND FLICKA
Fury
and Flicka were stories about beautiful black
horses and the boys and families that loved them.
Who wouldn't love a horse that played with you
and tried to keep you safe? In Fury Peter Graves
played Jim Newton and Bobby Diamond was Joey.
They lived on a ranch called the Broken Wheel
Ranch.
In Flicka,
Gene Evans was Rob McLaughlin, Anita Louise
played Nell and Johnny Washbrook was
Ken.
After watching both these shows I begged my parents
for a horse but they were having none of
that.
LITTLE
RASCALS
theme
Originally
the Rascals began as Our Gang in the 30's, movies
and a radio show came before tv. In the early
50's it hit your tv screen and became an instant
success. This was a bunch of neighborhood kids
who got together and usually led by Alfalfa and
his imagination, worked together to make money by
means of putting on plays and charging admittion
to see them. Butch was the bully of the
neighborhood who tried to terrorize them all at
different times (especially Alfalfa) and tried to
entice Darla away from Alfalfa. It was one of my
favorite morning shows. Below are some of the tv
actors who so ably played the Little
Rascals
buckwheat | porky | stymie | petey |
"Hop-A-Long
Cassidy"(1950)
Hoppy's
theme
Hop-A-Long Cassidy played by "William
Boyd" started out making movies in the 30's and
40's but in 1950 tv and radio came along and he
was offered a chance to participate in this
medium. He owned the rights to many of his movies
and he proceded to edit them into 1 hour shows
that aired. He then made 40-30 minute shows and
all were a big success.
Hoppy tried to capture
the bad guys instead of shooting them, he always
let them shoot first and he was never seen
kissing the girls. This show had some great
action scenes with lots of great stunts.
Gabby Hayes was one of his sidekicks called
"Windy Halliday",another one was Rand Brooks who
plalyed "Lucky Jenkins" and Edgar Buchanan played
"Red Conners". Hoppy's beautiful white horse was
called "Topper".
