Shemp's Favorite TV Shows

I love to watch TV! Most of the time, that is what you will find me doing. These are the TV shows that I would list if someone asked me to name my favorite shows. Since some of them are not produced anymore, I am usually watching them from a videotape.

My favorite show right now is a show from 1958 called Club Oasis. Spike Jones and the Band That Plays For Fun are the reason I enjoy it. Hey, if it has Jad Paul in it, I'll watch it. After awhile, though, Joyce Jameson really starts to get on my nerves.

One of myfavorite shows is Nickelodeon's Blue's Clues. This show is really aimed at pre-schoolers, but I think it's really cute. The show centers around a puppy named Blue and her owner, Steve. Blue puts three of her pawprints on things in or around the house to tell what she wants to do or make. Steve and the audience collect the three clues to find out what's on Blue's mind.

The Prisoner is a great show that is like a spy show but not full of violence. It was a summer replacement show during 1967. A man (played by Patrick McGoohan) resigns from a high position in British intelligence without warning and without an explanation. He is kidnapped and taken to a place called the Village where everyone is known only as a number (he is number 6) and all his needs will be taken care of, after the information he knows has been forcibly extracted from him. The series consists of the prisoner's adventures as he tries to keep from telling his captors the information they want and tries to escape from the Village.

The 1954 season of the Spike Jones Show featured Spike and his wife, Helen Grayco, and Spike's band, the City Slickers. It was a half-hour variety show consisting of performances by the City Slickers and a guest for the show, usually a big name in show business.

Pokemon is the greatest anime series! I love to see how many Pokemon I can find in single episode, and I'm always surprised at the variety. Once again, I am unusual from lots of other people in that my favorite character on the show is Professor Oak.

PBS' Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego? is the way I get my Rockapella dosage. The show opens with the introduction of host Greg Lee (ACME's Senior Agent in charge of training new recruits) and then the Chief (played by Lynne Thigpen) introduces the crook and what they stole. The kids are then given various clues as to the whereabouts of the crook, whom they chase around the world. The gumshoe who catches the crook gets a chance to catch Carmen Sandiego by identifying 8 countries in 45 seconds.

Freakazoid is an animated Warner Bros. show, and I think it's the best of the newer series shows they have produced. The show is about a teenager who got sucked into the Internet and zapped with all the information. He uses the powers that he has to fight crime and the various villians he encounters. The show is just a bunch of silliness, but I love it.

Doctor Who is a BBC program about a man called the Doctor who travels through time and space and meets with fantastic alien beings. This is the longest running science fiction television program; it ran for about 25 seasons (I think). This series has an interesting twist which I really enjoy. The Doctor is of a race of alien beings called Timelords. When a Timelord's body wears out, he regenerates, or becomes new. Therefore, when one actor decided to move on, the character regenerated, and another actor took his place to play the Doctor for several seasons.

Hawaii Five-O is a show from the late 60s and 70s. Jack Lord plays Steve McGarrett, the head of Hawaii state police, who solves crimes and catches criminals at every kind of activity imaginable. This is another of my favorite programs because, though some of the situations are rather ludicrous, the actors play their parts exceptionally well and portray some characters that remind you of someone you might have met before. Also, McGarrett really looks down on the druggies and is really hard on them when he busts them!

Bill Nye the Science Guy is an educational show for kids which focuses on different aspects of science. Bill Nye, the host and star of the show, demonstrates how white blood cells attack germs or does an experiment on chemical reactions. It's a great show that mixes comedy with learning.
