DESCRIPTION: Cid doesn't play much of a role in the game, either. But he provides you with some of the transportation you use throughout the game, including the all-important Highwind. The overall of Cid is he's a tough-talking pilot. Read below to learn more about his past.
CID'S PAST...
SELPHIE: Nothing is known about Cid's childhood. You don't even learn what his hometown is. But it's possible he was born at Rocket Town, even if it isn't really proven. NeWayz, all you know about is the incident that occured in Rocket Town a few years ago. Cid has the dream of being the first guy in outer space. Years ago, Shinra used to promote space travel rather than mako reactors and stuff. Shinra was glad to sponser Cid, and give him the rocket and money and such to fulfil his dream. Actually, I don't think Shinra cared about his dream; they cared more about launching this rocket. Cid's engineer-person, Sheera, was working on the oxygen tanks or somethin' like that. During the countdown of the launch, Cid finds out that Sheera is still at the oxygen tanks, inspecting them and making sure they're allright. Since this is at the bottom of the rocket, if the launch continues, Sheera will die ^^;; The countdown rollz on (that sounds familiar...) and Cid is trying to figure out if he should stop the countdown and spare Sheera's life or fulfil his life-long dream. The rocket then launches, but before it gets 10 feet off the ground, Cid pushes the emergency button (or something like that). This saves Sheera, but the rocket falls down and tilts; preventing a second launch. Cid tries to get a second chance from Shinra, but Shinra wouldn't give it to him; thinking it'd be a financial burden. They even take his airship, the Highwind, too! But u get it back ^_^

CID'S ULTIMATE WEAPON...
SELPHIE: You get Cid's ultimate weapon after the Huge Materia quest in Disc 2. I think you have to have Cid in your party in order to get it. Go to Rocket Town. Remember the old man that gave Cloud the "yushiyoki"? If you don't, er, he's the man who's standing near the furthest-north house. I think the house is a store, actually. Now talk to him about 5 times, or maybe even more. On the last time, he'll give you Cid's ultimate weapon, Venus Gospel! I also heard somewhere that you can get a secret ultimate weapon for Cid. You get this at the Gold Saucer's speed round thing. You have to collect 5000+ points, and you'll get it. But I never really tried this. I also forgot what it's called.
CID'S MANUAL LIMIT BREAK...
RINOA: You can get his manual limit break during both Disc 2 or 3, as long as you have the submarine. Once you do, go underwater and try to find the sunken Shinra plane, Gelnika. I'm not sure if you have to have Cid in your party for this, but I'd get him on your party just in case. Once in the ship, search around and open chests; one of them contains Cid's manual limit break, Highwind.
