It was not until 1934 that Moe, Larry and Curly finally made the split with Ted Healy and went out on their own. That same year the team, now billed officially as ¨The Three Stooges¨, starred in a two-reel comedy for Columbia Pictures titled ¨Woman Haters¨, a novelty production with all of its dialogue spoken in musical rhyme. It proved to be a successful experiment, and Columbia signed the Stooges to a long term contract. Later that same year, the Stooges starred in ¨Men in Black¨, (a spoof on Clark Gable's hit, ¨Men in White¨) which was later nominated for an Academy Award! The Stooges subsequently went on to become the mainstay of the Columbia Pictures Short Subjects division. |
Moe, Larry and Curly also appeared in the following Columbia shorts:
