When Curly suffered a heart attack on the set of "Half-Wits' Holiday" in early May, 1946, the Stooges quickly turned to Moe and Curly's brother, Shemp, who had been one of the original Stooges under Ted Healy. Shemp had made quite a solo career for himself after leaving the Stooges in 1932, appearing in 47 shorts and 40 feature films from 1933 to 1949. Shemp went on to make an additional 77 Three Stooges shorts with Moe and Larry, plus one more film ("Gold Raiders", 1951). |
