Pool G Round-Robin Game
Game 1
The Warhammer Combat Clan opted to go for a zero-archer army this game, instead choosing four journeymen and healing two wights for pus. In contrast, CoV took lots of archers. WCC's wight-hunting ghols were wiped out easily and CoV never really tried to wight hunt with ghols, so most wight hunting took place with thrall underwater. The Cross of Valor set up their archers on the flag, and started plinking the enemy army. Ex-Joker of the WCC tried to flank with his pus-laden ghols to kill these archers, but ended up wasting his pus on the defensive ghols. As CoV pushed forward more, WCC was forced to charge them. They did so rather raggedly and were taken out efficiently, their expensive four journeymen totally unused as they were off wandering around somewhere. Game 2
Cross of Valor opted for a fast flank with eighteen warriors and some ghols, while WCC did the same but on a smaller scale. CoV had no wights, where WCC opted for two that both managed to make it to the water. One wight was subsequently detonated by a hunting thrall. WCC then charged across the bridge into CoV's army, while CoV got all tangled up together. Meanwhile, the flank forces battled, CoV's superior warriors winning handily and scoring numerous free kills off the WCC ghols. In the center, the WCC warriors died quickly, after being on the wrong end of a warrior vs thrall matchup. This left just thrall and archers to combat the remaining CoV archers. The CoV archers got chased off by thrall, however this allowed the flanking warriors (just now returning to the bridge, each with 2-7 kills) to take the remaining WCC thrall in smaller blocks and crush them. These super-veteran warrior forces then split up to claim 5 of the 6 flags for the win. Game 3
Both sides sent three trow to the biddle and tagged both flank flags. WCC then sent a trow to the northeast flag, leaving two trow alone in the middle who got taken out swiftly. WCC's trow then attacked the CoV defense without waiting for backup and was demolished. The rest of the attack force was also taken out when it arrived. CoV were then able to mount an attack at their leisure and break through the last WCC defense. Match Summary (films)
An easy win for Cross of Valor in Game 1, and although they came very close to the brink in Game 2, they recovered splendidly in Game 3 and capitalised on WCC's mistakes to win. As Eldreth of the WCC says, "The first of three tourney games on Wednesday, we suffered from miscommunication and early momentum swings were lost as we floundered through the end games. This was a learning experience and we bounced back to take the next two matches that evening." - Butcher
