While the original version of this site stated that the songs in this collection were free for redistribution, that situation has changed, for a number of reasons.
Among other things, since the time at which this collection was first created, I found out that the sources from which I collected many of these songs were listing them as "free for redistribution" without the consent of their creators. I have since requested and received permission to use those pieces on this site, but I do not have the legal right to pass that permission on to others; you'll need to contact the authors directly (as I did) if you wish to reprint/republish/redistribute any of them.
In addition, the collection has been expanded, and there have been changes in the applicable copyright laws. So, while many of the songs in this collection are being freely circulated in the pagan community, and you are free to recirculate them on that basis (as long as no profit is made from the transaction), many others are under copyright, and are included ONLY with the consent of their creators.
I *am* working on changing my consent requests, and the updated version of the carol collection, to show whether the author of each song has given consent for it to be reprinted. For now, I have added contact links (where available) to each song in the updated collection, so it's the best place to find a way to contact the songs' authors.
So if you want to reprint any of the songs in this collection, please contact the author, to find out if they are comfortable with your doing so; or (if you can't locate the author) contact me directly, to find out if the piece in question is available for republication. I can't answer that question for every piece in the collection, but if I can, I will.
In short, just remember that while music is to be sung and shared, it's still the property of the creator, and they own the copyright; that means that they, and they alone, have the right to decide who gets to make copies of their works. It's that simple.
