The Sendat Mitzvah, the meal of rejoicing, follows the ceremony. According to tradition, it is a mitzvah, a commandment, to entertain the bride and groom by dancing at their wedding.   A traditional dance done at Jewish Weddings is one where the couple, lifted up on chairs, hold onto opposite ends of a tikhl, or kerchief, and "dance" with each other.

Another traditional dance, Mezinke, was done by Ellen's mother, Sally.
