The painting, Contemplation,
by Gimbolo, is the visualization of serenity and an eternal meditation upon the sublime essence of nature in rich oil colors
evoking a sense of balance and harmony. Only cool blue and green hues were painted to instill a quiet calm feeling that pervades
from the canvas with a subtle soft glow. The linear structure and forms are flowing and vibrant with motion that suggests
a graceful dancing ballerina, and yet on a deeper level it is the ebb and flow of the life force of the universe within all
of nature. While green is the color of nature and growth, blue expresses both the life-giving ocean of human existence and
the cosmic sea of life, which is the universe itself.

In Italian, the title means, "beyond the life". Seemingly simplistic shapes
and colors suggest the ancient wall murals of Egypt. Mythic figures are hinted and echo from the Egyptian "Book of the Dead",
and the crossing over from this life to a new life beyond our current mundane comprehension.

A master of lyrical abstract expressionism, Gimbolo explores his own path
sincerely unconcerned with current art trends or fades. Thus, Gimbolo paints abstract paintings of great depth and passionate
beauty fearless of the long standing trend that abstraction must be toned down or even grotesque to be taken seriously as
a work of art. Yet, as with all of his paintings, the artist carefully crafts his art so that each color and every line, shape,
and stroke intentionally works together to suggest subjective and mathematical content and depth beyond the primary beauty
of such paintings as the peaceful and dreamy work the artist has entitled, Dream Weaving. Referring to his painting, Gimbolo
said, what dreams I so effortlessly weave when happily a soul set free from the animal of my days.

On Our Way Home, is the return journey to which all beings and all life
has come from.

La Bella Musica, means Beautiful Music in Italian. As seductive and expressive
as Gimbolo paintings do appear in print or on his web site, one cannot fully experience the emotional response they evoke
until standing before the original work of art. Gimbolo himself explains that each color, line, and stroke of his paintings
is intentionally constructed to be an imperative and expressive note or chord of his lyrical abstractions. Myriad shadows,
light variations, hue moderations and texture are dependent upon each other and are not possible to reproduce in such media.
La Bella Musica is especially one of these paintings. This modern master of lyrical abstract expressionism says of this painting,
To me, it expresses the joy and boundless rhythmic beauty of music.

Richly textured pigment is contrasted by linear brush strokes in this lively
and yet peaceful painting. Gimbolo paintings typically impress with their vibrant simplicity of colors and forms but underlying
this initial seduction waits a deeper sublime depth for those able to venture therein. As with this painting in particular,
every stroke, and each color and line is intentionally constructed to interact with the whole symphony of abstract lyrical
expressionism. Drifting Away, is one of the more mathematical of his paintings which although is normally present, has this
time taken precedence. Here we see the lines that divide us in our daily lives. Dividing and subdividing us yet somehow the
artist suggests there is a way to just drift away from all of this when desired and know what we are is really forever within
us.
