Crowes Keyboardist Released From Hospital; Tour
Soldiers On:
Black Crowes keyboardist Ed Harsch was released from a
hospital in Laige, Belgium on Monday, four days after
undergoing emergency surgery to correct a twisted intestine. |
Harsch isn't expected to immediately rejoin the band
onstage, but he will travel with the Crowes for the
remainder of its European tour, which concludes on July 25
at Shepherd's Bush Empire in London.
The Crowes are hoping that Harsch will be able to return to
the keys by the end of the European shows, or at least in
time to play the Fuji Rock Festival in Tokyo on July 30.
As we previously reported (see "Black Crowes
Keyboardist Sidelined By Emergency Surgery"),
Harsch suffered complications from the intestinal problem
after the Crowes' concert in Cologne, Germany last week
and was subsequently rushed to the hospital in Laige.
Despite Harsch's illness, the Crowes
still managed to fulfill its opening gig for
Aerosmith on Saturday at Wembley
Stadium in London as well as back
Jimmy Page at a special charity concert
at London's Cafe Du Paris on June 27.
For that show, which benefited a pair
of children's organizations that Page is affiliated with, the
Crowes and the Zeppelin played a seven-song set that
included "Shake Your Money Maker," "In My Time of
Dying," and "Whole Lotta Love." For the final number, a
rave-up of Led Zeppelin's "You Shook Me," Page and the
Crowes were joined by Aerosmith's Steven Tyler and Joe
Perry.
Tonight the Black Crowes are in Paris to headline a show at
the Olympia.
