Madonna, who also heads up Maverick Records, reportedly filed the suit against Padell, Nadell, Fine, Weinberger & Co. on Tuesday and charges the firm with malpractice and breach of contract. The singer, her personal corporation, and Maverick are reportedly named as the suit's plaintiffs, and are seeking $2 million in compensatory damages and $500,000 in punitive damages according to the AP. Speaking with the news agency, the firm's Bert Padell said that the suit was sparked after Madonna claimed herself as a California resident on her 1992 taxes. Padell told the AP that New York disagreed, and came calling to the tune of $2 million. Madonna reportedly fired the firm in 1996. |
