Reggae Legend Dennis Brown Dead At 42:
Dennis Brown, the Jamaican artist who pioneered the reggae style known as "lovers rock," died Thursday at the age of 42 according to the Associated Press.
Brown had reportedly been ill for quite some time and passed on at the University Hospital of the West Indies.

A prodigy, Brown began playing clubs at the age of nine, and by the age of 11 he was already racking up hits in his native Jamaica. Through the late '60s and early '70s, Brown turned his formula for romantic reggae tunes into a string of hits and eventually scored on the U.K. charts in 1979 with "Money In My Pocket."

Bob Marley once called Brown his favorite reggae artist, and after Marley's death in 1981, many called Brown "the Crown Prince of Reggae."

Brown toured the U.S. several times, and in the '90s he became a fixture on the Reggae Sunsplash tour.
