311 To Crank Up "Soundsystem" In October, Club Dates To Follow:
311 is currently wrapping up the mixing stage of its new album, which it has christened "Soundsystem," at NRG Studios in Hollywood, California with engineer Scott Ralston.
"Soundsystem" is set to drop on October 12, and marks the long-awaited studio follow-up to the Omaha, Nebraska's last effort, 1997's "Transistor." In 1998, 311 released a concert album, "Live."

As we previously reported, the band recorded the new album with producer Hugh Padgham at 311's own recording facility, Hive Studios in Los Angeles, a move that frontman Nick Hexum said afforded the group the luxury to work at its own pace.

"We decided to really take our time in order to make the best record possible," Hexum said in a statement issued by the band's label, Capricorn Records. "So we built our own studio and we didn't set any real deadlines. We spent a lot of time rehearsing the new live songs before recording them, to make sure they would measure up to our live show."

After the fall release of the new album, 311 plans to head out on the road for a small club tour that may include a benefit show for Jane Fonda's G-Capp charity in Atlanta.

The G-Capp Foundation seeks to raise awareness and solutions for various problems faced by today's youths, including the surge in adolescent pregnancy.

No word yet on when that tour might kick off, but we'll keep you posted.
