The Winnipeg Salvadoran-Canadian Association, Inc. (WSCCA) was established in August, 1994 with the purpose of participating in different events which might promote the Salvadoran cultural heritage to local, provincial and national levels.
The WSCCA was incorporated under the Manitoba Incorporation Branch, Province of Manitoba in January, 1996. The Winnipeg Salvadoran-Canadian Association, Inc. is a community based, non-profit organization which seeks to:
- Foster cooperation and understanding between the salvadoran community and the multicultural Canadian society by promoting social, cultural, and educational events and activities to embrace the Salvadoran cultural heritage.
- Develop further culturally appropriate programs and better support the community in its integration into the Canadian Society.
The WSCCA's vision is to be a vital and driving force in the 21st Century assisting the Salvadoran community to be an economic, social, and cultural asset in the Canadian Society.
The WSCCA is a grass-root organization interested in the community's ideals and its need to rescue, preserve and mantain the cultural-historic roots of the Salvadoran cultural heritage. |
The WSCCA welcomes everyone interested in the goals and objectives of the Association, by actively participating as organizational or honourable member of the WSCCA.
The WSCCA is in the process of expanding the programming and activities so that the Association's goals and objectives can be fully achieved.
One of the main objectives of the Association is to organize the Pabellon El Salvador Pavilion during the 2003 Folklorama, enhancing the Salvadoran community's and the Association's profiles and images.
