Close-up PhotographyClose-up, or macro photography transforms the ordinary into the marvelous, and shows us things that our eyes would never ordinarily see. To be considered a close-up photograph, the image must be 1/10 that of life size or larger: remember, this refers to the image on the film plane, which for 35mm film is approximately 1 1/2 inches across. So to be a close-up photograph, a fifteen-inch area would have to fill the frame. Close-up photographs are usually taken with a macro lens, extension tubes, or a combination of both.
