Gareth Paul Gates was born on the 12th July 1984 making him a cancer. he lives in an end terraced house in East Bolling, Bradford with mum Wendy Dad Paul Sisters Nichola Jessica and Charlotte and foster kids but is planning a move to London. He can't drive but has bought his parents a £25000 silver people carrier (i've seen it, very nice it is too!) His dad is a postman. He has no Girlfriend but his ideal woman would be Britney Spears/ Rachel S club/Cat Deeley.
He idolises Robbie Williams who he calles an "all round entertainer", but his favourite group is Westlife and he sang their song "flying without wings" at his first Pop Idol audition in Manchester. Roumour has it that he will join them on their 2002 tour.
Gareth can (apart from his obvious singing talents) play the drums, piano and guitar.
He is kind and says all along that he wants to help those less fortunate than himself.
He describes himself as determined, hard working and friendly. His saddest Pop Idol moment was when his best mate Zoe was voted off and he was powerless to stop the tears. They were very close and she also helped him with his stammer.
He got into the final 10 with a MASSIVE 62% of the votes and was extatic about his election style "battle bus" campaign.
Although he didn't win Pop Idol it was clear there were to true losers and Since then Gareth had achieved 3 number one singles with Unchained Melody, Anyone of us (stupid mistake), and Suspicious minds. His debut album, What my heart wants to say reached number 2.
