Ariana's Musings

One of my all-time favorite books is Richard Bach’s “Illusions of a Reluctant Messiah”.   In the beginning of the book, the crowd gathers to hear the Messiah who asks the people if they would be willing to do anything  that God might ask of them.  They say YES, YES  - they would suffer “the tortures of hell itself”…they would “be nailed to a tree and burned”..…. Whatever suffering God expects, they will do it and do it gladly.

And then the Messiah asks them, “what if God spoke directly to your face and He said ‘I command that you be happy in the world, so long as you live’.  What would do you do then?”

And the crowd is totally silent.

Somehow, for some reason, pain and suffering have become accepted as not only okay, but also necessary for enlightenment.  Why?  What if we were not put here to suffer at all, but to learn gratitude, appreciation, love, happiness, and joy?  What if we were here to experience the pure bliss of living?  The thrill of being alive?

Finding your path (whatever it is) should be a joyous experience.  Life does not need to be serious, heavy or worrisome to teach us important lessons.  Laughing, loving, dancing are important parts of the Divine Experience, too.  If you would know Light, be Light.

The grand essentials of happiness are:

  something to do,
something to love,
and something to hope for.”

--- Allan K. Chalmers

“Joy is not in things; it is in us.”  -- Richard Wagner “A person without a sense of humor is like a wagon without springs – jolted by every pebble in the road.”
 --- Henry Ward Beecher
