Maureen Lipman was
fabulous in the comedy About Face. She played a different character in
each episode which allowed Maureen to show her talents to the fullest.
Maureen also appeared in the sitcoms All at Number 20 and Agony.
She has
also had an extremely successful one-woman-show called Re:Joyce which
celebrated the life and career of Joyce Grenfell.
I also loved Maureen
in two television plays penned by her husband Jack Rosenthal, called
Eskimo Day and Cold Enough For Snow. There was to have been a third
instalment of the 'Eskimo' trilogy, but the television channel pulled out of doing
it. More fool them!
Maureen will always
be fondly remembered as Beattie (geddit?) in the BT adverts of the 80's -
"You got an ology?"
2003
saw Maureen appear in the multi Oscar winning film The Pianist.
