"We had a lot of fun making them. I miss Kenny Williams very much. He was a lovely but unhappy man, but what a talent" - Marianne Stone - September 1999

Other Noteworthy Performances

Marianne Stone is probably my favourite of all the supporting stars to appear in the Carry Ons. Although never a leading star in the films, Marianne certainly had her fair share of memorable lines, from "Yer know what a diddler is don't yer?" in Carry On Dick to "I've just called temps!" in Carry On Don't lose Your Head.
Marianne's film career spans 38 years and more than 170 films. As well as the Carry Ons, Marianne appeared in two of the infamous 'Confessions' films starring fellow Carry On'er Robin Askwith, classic comedies like I'm Alright Jack, The Intelligence Men, Heavens Above!, The Wrong Arm of the Law, Carlton-Browne of the FO and the Runaway Bus. She also found time to appear in a couple of the much loved 'Doctor' films (produced by Betty E Box, Peter Rogers' wife) and a few of Norman Wisdom films.
Marianne is also firmly linked with that other much loved series of British films, the Hammer Horrors. She made several films for the Hammer studios including Spaceways, Watch It Sailor!, 36 Hours, Paranoiac, Hysteria, Curse of the Mummy's Tomb and classic Hammer Horrors like Countess Dracula, The Quatermass Xperiment and Quatermass 2. Marianne's other horror credits include The Creeping Flesh, The Vault of Horror and The Night Caller. On a lighter note Marianne was one of a number of Carry On performers to appear in the Beatles film A Hard Days Night.
Away from the Carry Ons, my two favourite Marianne films are Please Turn Over and especially the big screen version of Bless This House. Both of which were made by Peter Rogers and Gerald Thomas.
Sadly for her many fans, Marianne has now quietly retired from all things showbiz!

If you have any info on any of Marianne's stage, radio or television work please email me! Thanks in anticipation.
