I Imagine You've been doing a lot of interviews latley. How have they
been going?
Sometimes its just weird sitting talking about yourself for that long.

How old are you?
I just turned eighteen on September 27.

Thank you. I had a wicked surprise party. My friends rented a hockey
rink and we played hockey.

So, Canada, Eh?
[Laughs]

Do you really skateboard?
Yeah, I still skate a little bit. I like to skate, but its nothing
major like everyone makes it. Its not a big deal. Like, "Avril
Lavigne, skater chick." I'm no Tony Hawk- I just like to skate around
or whatever.

Can you ollie?
Yeah, sometimes.

I heard you were dating Colin McKay.
Theres a rumor that I'm dating everybody.

Who else have you heard you're dating?
A while back it was that I was dating my bass player, now its my
guitarist. Everyone likes to talk. Its funny to sit back and listen.
Its like people sit at home on their computers in those chat lines
and talk back and forth about my life. Its like, "Oh my god, I saw
her making out with so-and-so." And I'm thinking, the last time I
kissed a guy was when?

You have a cute accent.
I do? Oh my god. [Laughs] Whats it sound like?

Well, when you said out, you said it like ohwt
[Laughs] Thats funny.

Have you ever seen a hockey fight?
I've actually been in a hockey fight. I grew up playing hockey. I was
the only girl on my team. I used to get in fights all the time.

Did you know you were going to be a rock star when you were younger?
Its all I ever thought about. If it didn't happen, I wouldn't have
had a future, I guess.

Tell me about the song "sk8er Boi"
I used to have a fetish with skaters. Whenever I would look at a guy,
I would check out his shoes to see if he had ollie holes in them. I
was just really into skater boys. I was a tomboy--I wore super baggy
pants and big hoodies. My parents would be like, "Avril, what are you
doing? Pull up your pants, put on some girl clothes on." "Skater boy"
isn't about a certain guy or girl- just what I saw in high school.
Don't try to please your friends, be true to yourself.

Why did you spell it "boi"?
Thats how I spell boi.

Do you have a boyfriend?
No.

Have any famous guys asked you out yet?
I've had guys give me their numbers, but I'm not gonna call them.

Any names we'd know?
If I say them its gonna start shit.

We're not like a tabloid. I'm just personally interested in this kind
of stuff. Come on- has anyone's publicist ever given your publicist
their number to give you?
Other artists have gotten in contact with my management. They ask for
my number, but they never give it out. I do have Chris from Dashboard
Confessional's number. He wanted to say happy birthday to me, which
was really sweet. I still haven't called him, but I'm gonna call him
sometime just to say hi. Its cool to have friends in the business
because they're goinng through the same things you're going through.

What bands are you into right now?
Let me look in my CD case. I have a little camouflage CD thing. I
have two Nirvana Cds- Nevermind and In Utero. Ramones, NOFX, Box Car
Racer-- Which I love. I have the biggest crush on Tom. I used to want
to marry him and his lip ring, back when I was really into skater
boys. He has such an amazing voice. Maybe if he wasn't married and
was a little bit younger. The Box Car Racer record is my favorite by
far. I have to listen to it every day. Songs one and two totally move
me. Brilliant songwritting--I'm always like, "I wish I wrote those."

Should I tell him that you have a crush on him?
Oh shit, what have I started? Are you gonna put that in the magazine?
