One of the most festive of Christmas traditions in Puerto Rico is the Feast of the Epiphany, commemorating the Three Kings' arrival in Bethlehem to worship the newborn Christ child. In Latin America and Spain, gifts are exchanged and children eagerly await the kings' arrival. Although the tradition began in medieval Europe, where the kings are shown astride camels or burros, Puerto Rican images generally show them riding horses. These figures were carved by a member of the Caban family, several generations of whom worked in the town of Camuy, although Caban-style carvings can be found in other areas as well.

Una de las tradicionales fiestas navideñas que se celebran con más júbilo en Puerto Rico es la de la Epifanía, en conmemoración de la llegada a Belén de los tres Reyes para adorar al Niño Jesús recién nacido. En España y América Latina se intercambian regalos en ese día y los niños esperan con ansiedad la llegada de los Reyes. Aunque la tradición se remonta a la Europa medieval, donde los Reyes se representaban sobre camellos o burros, las imágenes puertorriqueñas suelen representarlos a caballo. Estas figuras fueron talladas por un miembro de la familia Caban, varias generaciones de la cual trabajaron en la ciudad de Camuy, aunque se pueden encontrar tallas de estilo Caban en otras partes de la isla.
