A Daydreamer's Haven

Poetry

A Daydreamer's Haven

Daisy's bending on summer breezes
You brush my shoulder as I pass
To take my place on ground below
'neath canopy of patterned glass

Through your branches I see sunlight
Filtering through to warm my face
Long and flowing limbs are dancing
All around this magical place

I feel you strong and firm behind me
As I nestle in your secret world
Where fairies fly and flowers sing
And dewdrops lie like scattered pearls

And deep in the earth I feel a humming
In the shadows of my mind
While beyond the world is raging
I am resting safe inside

Cradled softly on my bed
The dreams come swiftly, shut my eyes
And fantasies of forbidden things
Warm my heart and fill my mind

And then I feel upon my brow
A kiss so gentle and fairy light
I scarce can feel you bending o'er me
Protecting me from the lonely night
