NAS
Meridian
From there it was on to Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio,
Texas, for Law Enforcement training.
My first assignment as a newly qualified "Law
Enforcement/Physical Security Specialist" was to Naval Air Station
Meridian, located near Meridian, Mississippi. I loved it! My wife hated the
working hours.
On December 3, 1991, (my ninth wedding anniversary), I had the
"honor" of helping guard Air Force One, along with the Air National
Guard, during a Presidential visit to Key Field by then President, Honorable
George Bush. It was cold! Naturally, this occurred on a scheduled day off. At
the time, I was working 12 hour days, with a 3 days on and 3 days off rotation.
My wife was not impressed, to say the least!
During my tour at NAS Meridian, I received my first Good
Conduct award. (I wasn't exactly a good example during my previous enlistment)I
like the look of the seal at the top of my certificate. Incidentally, my
certificate is still unsigned.
I also received a cool looking certificate stating I was
certified to operate the radar gun used for traffic control.
