Are we really Christians
This is a question we must ask ourselves and be ready to face the truth. We profess to live one way and show something
else. Hurricane Katrina is a good example of how most Christians react to a disaster. Everyone says that they want to help,
but only a few are willing. God’s people should be out in force doing what is necessary to get the victims the relief
that is needed, and I am not just talking about the material things. These people need the strength and uplifting that can
only come from the Lord through his people, the Christians.
Look around and you can see who is living the life they profess and those that are not. Look at the Churches and you
will see the ones in which God dwells. There are a lot of people who say well I took some clothing or I took some food, but
did you let the ones in need know that it is from God or did you do it so you could look good in the eye of man. Did you do
it because God said it was right or because your neighbors did it first? Was it out of mercy or obligation? Was it because
you wanted to or because you were asked to by someone in your Church. God knows the difference do you?
These people need more than food and a place to stay, granted these come first because we need to make sure that they
survive, but when you take the things they need to them do you offer to pray with them. Do you let them know that they have
a place to worship and give praise for what they have, no matter what race or color. Do you witness to them and let them know
God cares about them. These people being displaced from there homes and lives need to be ministered to by us in every action
and deed no matter how small. This is a time for us to reflect on what God has done for us and share it
Father I come to you and pray that it be in your will that in the coming days we band together and show these people
that we are Christians, and that there is hope for tomorrow. Give us the strength needed to do your will, and show us the
way in Jesus name I pray. Amen
