Hatchetman was created while ICP was trying to decide on the name for their new record company. Shaggy started talking about this crazy paperboy in his neighborhood. The kid had hair like Big Bird, and was nuts. He was always kicking over trash cans and crashing his bike into cars so he could roll across the hoods. The record label was to be called Mad Paperboy Records. The other idea suggested was Psychopathic Records. Shaggy drew two logos on a napkin. One was this character with Big Bird hair, a stack of papers in one hand, and a newspaper in the other hand. For the Psychopathic logo, Shaggy drew the same character, only without any papers, and carrying a hatchet instead of a newspaper. When shown to Alex Abbiss, it was decided. Psychopathic Records and Hatchetman were born.
