David Duchovny in Australia:
The Koala Girl

The greatest night of my life was on Thursday [June 14, 2001]. I would like to tell everyone because I feel terrific!!!!!!!!! He [David Duchovny] was appearing at 8:15pm on George Street, Sydney, so I left school at 11am and waited outside the cinema for the next eight hours. I had made an Evolution poster and some banners saying 'We love you David!' and 'I love you!'.

Because I was there so early I got at the front of the barricade. 2DAY FM (a popular radio station here in Australia) began setting up their equipment and there were huge Evolution posters! It was so thrilling I started shaking four hours before he came!!!! I had waited my entire life for this day.

The [Columbia] Tristar representative asked if we would like to hand out leaflets on the event for tonight so I did and it was great fun! In return they gave us these rare print pictures of him (he only had four of them). They were fabulous!!!!!!!

Then my friends arrived from school around 3:30 and we set up camp. I bought a koala soft toy for him and in its paws attached a card with my words of how much I adored him and enclosed was my phone number (LOL)!.

Well it got dark, there were spotlights everywhere and they started playing funky music like that song from the soundtrack 'Play That Funky Music White Boy' and 'I Can't Stand The Rain' (I love those songs) and the crowds got bigger and the red carpet was rolled out, the radio DJ's got there, journalists everywhere, paparazzi etc, they even closed the street for David!!!!! I was so excited.

Then the workers from an agency got dressed in these overalls and started dancing, people were screaming, and they handed out free Evolution posters, stickers, books, masks and balloons. Then Aussie celebs (who suck) started walking down the red carpet).

The radio DJ's started walking up and down asking fans what they would ask David. They only asked about five fans and they came to me!!!!!! I couldn't think of what to ask so I said boxers of briefs and they said someone already had that so I said then I would like to know who his idol was growing up and they said OK when he comes we'll come around and give you the mike! I was ecstatic! I was actually going to ask him something!!!!!!!!!

We chanted David's name again and I screamed as much as possible. Then when David came I screamed "I LOVE YOU!!!!" at the top of my voice and yelled and jumped up and down. I was wearing an X-Files jumper and had an Evolution sticker stuck to it. Then the radio people came and I asked my question and said hi while I could hear my heart pounding in my ears and my body was shaking. He was such a gentleman and sooooooooooo nice to everyone. He was really relaxed, naturally witty and sounded wonderful, even better than on TV!

Then after the radio interview (in which he was incredibly funny) he came round I actually saw him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He was gorgeous!!! I took as many photos as possible. His hair was immaculate, he wore a black suit and was real suave and sophisticated! What a man!!!!!!! He was really nice, signing everything for everyone. Then he came to me and my knees shook while the top half of my body was calm. He signed my print photo. I said thank you very much. He had his own pen - what a smart, organised guy!

Then I told him his movie Return to Me made me cry and he said well good, thank you. Then I asked if I could give him the koala soft toy he thanked me and took it from me and he asked me what the koala's name was (I had no bloody idea) and I looked right into his eyes and he was so close to me and I was yelling inside my head OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!!! His eyes were the most beautiful, brightest bluey grey I had ever seen. I know it sounds corny but I could kind of feel a bit of his soul and it was really kind. I don't care what anyone says he's the best, kindest, handsomest guy ever. A real man!!!!!!!!!!! And I met him!!!!!!!!!!!!

So I blurted out that the koala's name was Puddy and he said 'of course'. Then he had to sign other people's stuff and someone gave him a kangaroo soft toy but it was smaller than my gift and mine was a lot better and David held them both up in his hands and smiled and people cheered and went totally insane. [A photo of this was printed in The Daily Telegraph on Saturday June 14.] I then continued to yell out YOU ROCK and I LOVE YOU.

Then a reporter came up to me and asked if I had given him the koala and I said yes and he asked me what David had said to me and then the reporter asked me what my name was, where I was from and how old I was. Then he took photos of little me!!!!!!!!

I returned home with the most rewarding, happiest feeling I had ever had. I had met the man of my dreams and he was absolutely perfect. He was so gorgeous (I know I sound vain but I can't stress how good looking and mature and incredible he looked). He was perfect, and I can't believe I met him. His eyes were the prettiest things I've ever looked into. I love him with all my heart and would just like to share that with people.
