The Others
The Others, the TV series produced by ex-X-Filers Glen Morgan and James Wong, made it's Australian debut a couple of weeks back on channel 9 and is currently being screened on Tuesday and Thursday nights each week around 11:30pm. Caught up with both episodes this week and they were reasonable but nothing to rave over. The show will probably be of most interest to Morgan/Wong fans. One of the series stars is John Billingsley who appeared in Three Of A Kind.

Guest stars on various episodes of The Others include Jenny Gago (SR819), Kristen Cloke (The Field Where I Died and Millennium), Tucker Smallwood (Home), Darin Morgan (Small Potatoes and The Host) and Michael Ensign (Biogenesis and The Sixth Extinction).

There is an Official Site if you want more details.

Movieline
The December/January issue of the always brilliant (but expensive, unfortunately) US magazine Movieline is now available in some Australian newsagencies and it has a page on Robert Patrick and an article on Tea Leoni where she talks about her films and David Duchovny amongst other things. She reveals the reason why she was not much help to David when he appeared on Celebrity Who Wants to Be a Millionaire was that she forgot the question that was asked however she did know the answer!
ThanX Lucy.

Added early Wednesday, December 20, 2000
Sorry about the lack of updates but I've been away for a few days.

Tonight's Episode
How The Ghosts Stole Christmas is tonight's episode of "The Essential X-Files" on channel 10.

Vertical News
There is a half page review of Vertical Limit in the December/January issue of Filmink magazine which is free at Hoyts cinemas in Brisbane, probaby nationwide. Otherwise you'll have to buy it from your local newsagency. There is also a review in last week's Drum Media # 526 (free street paper in Sydney) and a massive 3 page story in last weekend's Sunday Telegraph.

The movie will also be reviewed on The Movie Show on SBS tonight.

Family Man
There is a photo of David Duchovny in a kilt in Who Weekly and a photo of Tea Leoni at the premiere of her movie Family Man in NW magazine. According to the Hoyts website Family Man will be released on January 25 here. There was also a large photo of Tea Leoni and David Duchovny in the Sunday Telegraph on the wekend with a small story about Family Man. Tea Leoni apparently gave the film's director a huge pile of pornography as a present because of his attitude towards women. Make of that what you will.

Books
Bookworld in Brisbane has copies of the hardback X-Files Book of the Unexplained on sale for $7.95, quite a drop from its original price of $39.95. Another book The Ultimate Encyclopedia of Science Fiction has a page on X Files and is on sale at Bookworld for $9.95. This too has been reduced from the original price of $24.95. There are plenty of these discount book places around, apart from Brisbane, so you'll just have to hunt around to find some real bargains.

Most of the above from Lucy. ThanX.

Marathon
Foxtel/Austar will be holding an X-Files marathon on January 1. ThanX Luke~Touchstone on ausxfnews.

Media Roundup
The latest TV Hits magazines has a small pic of David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson with the following:
At the end of season one, Mulder and Scully were about to be lost in the X-tinct Files... until some X-tremely dedicated fans stepped in.
Also the new Australian edition of Empire magazine has a half page review of Vertical Limit and gives it a 4 star rating. Sunday's Adelaide Sunday Mail TV Plus liftout magazine had a half page article with a photo of DD & GA and explains that Channel 10 has searched the most popular X-Files websites to come up with the all-time most popular episodes as voted by internet users worldwide. It has a short review of tomorrow's Paper Hearts and mentions that upcoming episodes will be How the Ghosts Stole Christmas and Bad Blood. So that explains that!
ThanX again to Lucy.

Gillian's Joke
From a feature on "Celebrity Chuckles" in this week's UK TV Times:
Gillian Anderson's favorite joke

Two nuns are asked to paint a room in the convent and ordered not to spill paint on their habits. So they decide to lock the door and strip off their habits. Then there's a knock at the door.

"Who is it?" says one of the nuns.

"Blind man," a voice replies.

The two nuns decide that no harm can come from letting a blind man into the room so they unlock the door.

"Nice bods, sisters," he says. "Where do you want these blinds?"

XF Magazine News
In the latest TV Week there is a photo of Robert Patrick and Gillian Anderson on the second last page in the Next Week section, signifying that there will be an article, TheTruth Is Still Out There, in next week's edition. There is a photo of Gillian Anderson in New Weekly in the same orange dress that was in TV Week some time ago. The magazine labelled it amongst the worst fashions and one of the comments was that it looked like a maternity dress.
