Trivia:
The Official X Files Magazine for Spring 2001 had a Lone Gunmen cover, and a few photos from this episode, including Langly hog-tied through a tire swing, and two of Jimmy Bond with chimps.
The Boulle Behavioral Institute is named after Pierre Boulle, the author of the novel Planet of the Apes on which the title of this episode is obviously based.
The chimp, whose "slave name" was Peanuts, preferred to be called Simon Whitethatch Potentloins.
Yves' anagrammatic alias for this episode was Sara Lee Wheyvold.
