what is YFC?                                                                   

 

The CFC Youth for Christ (YFC) is for the young adults, those with ages from 12 to 21 years. The Lord imbued YFC with a strong missionary spirit. The youth can be effective partners in mission and are in fact crucial to the future of Couples for Christ, the church and the country. To spread the good news more effectively, by creating an environment in the campus and the community that is appealing and life-giving to young adults. Thus  the need to organize sportsfest, praisefest, songfest and other social activities exciting to the youth, by focusing on the need to grow in holiness and to view their body as the temple of the Holy Spirit - stressing not just purity for women, but for the men as well. In YFC, we talk about virginity for men, particularly since they initiate sexual activities and often lead the girls in sin. As CFC expands its ministry in depressed areas, YFC is a major component in its work since the youth oftentimes are the hardest hit victims of poverty leading many of them to gangs and a life of crime. 

It consists of very enthusiastic young men and women who are eager to serve God and their community. This is a group which is part of the Couples For Christ ministry which can be found all over the world. There are many chapters of YFC which can be found in the Philippines and other parts of the world.

Many of the current members of YFC strongly believe in this statement: "Before YFC, I couldn't imagine life in it. Now it's hard for me to imagine my life without it". YFC gives youth a chance to develop life-long friendships with peers, and with the One who matters the most, God.
YFC stands for Youth For Christ. It is a simple, yet very effective title. It's short, but sweet, and to the point.

COLOR: GREEN 
The color green symbolizes growth, as likened and frequently used to represent nature and its components. It is  also used whenever vibrance and energy are depicted, especially in sports and summer activities. This color is  also symbolic of freshness, signifying openness to learning's, ideas, molding and development. 

LOGO : The logo is descriptive of the transformation of the Young Adult. She/He embraces the Cross of Christ in  everything that he does, and is guided, given strength and meaning by the workings of the Holy Spirit.

can i be YFC ?                                                                 

YFC is open for membership by children of Couples For Christ. The age range of membership is from 12 to early 20's. It is also open to membership by children whose parents are not within the Couples For Christ community. It transcends all cultural, economic, educational, racial, and other distinctions. 

To become a YFC member, there is a retreat which one needs to attend which is called a "YOUTH CAMP". The camp lasts 3 days and 2 nights. To fully appreciate the value of the camp and to make the most out of it, it must be seen not just as a 3-day experience where the teenagers can have FUN, (although this is also important), but in the light of the overall objectives of the Youth Camp, so that the youth can develop to be joyful, responsible and fruitful men and women of God. We should realize that the camp is not an end in itself, but the beginning of a relationship with God and those in YFC. 

A YOUTH WHAT? A  YOUTH CAMP  is a three day retreat, usually on a weekend Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Here young adults find a place where they will hear the Word of God spoken by other young adults like themselves in an environment of fun and excitement. At the Youth Camp, young adults will create new friendships with each other as they play games, share ideas and experience and entertain one another in a wholesome environment where Christian values are talked about and are actively practiced.

The youth camp is the 'entrance' to the group. Then meetings occur regularly, as well as get-togethers.

YFC philosophy                                                               

we in Youth for Christ believe...

 

  • That God is calling everyone to a personal relationship with Him through His Son, Jesus Christ. 

  • That this call is not exclusive but shared with all sectors of society, regardless of age, colour, nationality, status, and beliefs in life. 

  • That the youth have a very special place in God's heart, and that they in return have a very deep sense of love for God, and that a personal relationship with Jesus Christ is something they desire. 

  • That the youth have a vibrant, energetic, dynamic, and free-spirit nature. Rather than denying this nature and force the youth into a mold that satisfies our own perception of Christianity and holiness, we accept this nature, not curtailing it, but re-channeling, into an active expression and submission and participation to the plan of God. 

  • That the youth realize the need to make decisions in life; but they should also know that as they do, God should always be an inseparable part of these decisions; Knowing also that they are future leaders of the families and societies, we realize that this future depends on how they are molded today as God's children. 

  • That the youth grow not only from what they receive, but more through what they are able to share with others. 

  • That youth are responsible as long as they are given the appropriate amount of guidance.

YFC covenant                                                               

1. I believe I am special because I am a son/daughter of God.

  • I will spend time in prayer where I can grow in loving, honoring, and serving Him.

  • I will learn and grow in living out the ideals and principles of my Lord Jesus.

  • I believe that my body is the Temple of the Holy Spirit. I will not dishonor the Lord through drunkenness, drugs or immorality.

  • I will participate actively in the life of my Church.

2. I believe that my family is God's gift to me.

  • I will love, honor and respect my parents in spite of whatever state or circumstance they are in.

  • I believe that my blood brothers and sisters are God's gift to me. I will strive to grow in unity, love and understanding towards them.

  • I will be a source of healing to whatever brokenness, or hurt my family experiences.

3. I believe that it is my privilege to be studying in my school.

  • I will show my love and loyalty to the Lord and to my school by being a good student.

  • I will take responsibility for my studies.

  • I will respect school authorities for my studies.

  • I will serve my classmates and build good relationships in school.

4. I believe that I belong to the bigger family of CFC Youth For Christ.

  • I will relate in love and loyalty to the brothers and sisters from other schools, cities, province and countries.

  • I will serve the Lord in CFC YFC in whatever way I can, whenever and wherever the Lord chooses to call me.

  • I will follow the directions of my elders and leaders in CFC YFC.

5. I believe that God has a special purpose in allowing me to be    born/live in this country.

  • It is my privilege to love, honor and serve my country.

  • It is my duty to obey and respect the laws and authorities that God has placed over me.

  • It is my responsibility to preserve and protect the environment.
