Patrice Rapalus, Director (Computer Security Institute, San Francisco, Mar 21,2000) Review This article has really broadened my mind. This is because all along, even though I know that there are hackers actually existing on planet Earth, herself, I just thought that there are only a handful of them. Furthermore, I am rather surprised that young teenagers of age 16 could actually hacked into computers of big enterprises. That is really amazing because it really makes me wonder where did these teenagers learn hacking skills. Recently, in Singapore, an 18 year-old male was charged in court for hacking into MediaCity's entertainment website, changing the name from MediaCity to MediaShity. I do not really understand why these youngsters want to hack into websites when they know that it is illegal. The only guess I have is they are hacking into websites for the thrill of it and wanting to show off their hacking skills. Big enterprises should have tight security systems because they have enough funds to secure first-class security systems. However, hackers still manage to access their information illegally. This proves a Chinese saying, " One mountain is higher than another mountain." This means that no matter how good something or someone is, there will always be something or someone who is better than the original. Technology is advancing rapidly every minute. To prevent further loss, not just big enterprises have to be constantly upgrading their security systems, ordinary people like me, will have to learn the minimum basics of protecting my own information. (Maybe one of these days I will learn some basic hacking tactics. Hey! Knowing your foe is almost a guarantee for your success in defeating him/her!)
