Essay 1 I am the type of person who likes reading from a book and I mean from a real solid book. I like the convenience of being able to bring my book wherever I go, may it be on the way to school or lying in bed. To me, books are a form of reassurance that they will always be there and their contents will never change. I can read them whenever I desire. If not, I can just put them back onto the bookshelves. I need not worry about it being five hundred pages thick today and one thousand pages thick the next. Reading hyperfiction for the very first time proves to be a ‘Friday the 13th ’. I did not know when ‘Jason’ would appear. It was really scary, accompanied by a great sense of loss, not knowing what would happen and what I was going to see. To tell the truth, I was ready to switch off the computer and head straight to bed. Even though I had read “Decentering” by George P. Landow before venturing into the world of cyberspace, I was totally unprepared for what was in store for me. I read all the six main hyperfictions given to us by Mr. Jeff Partridge. I read all of them not because I was deeply intrigued by what all the texts were about. On the contrary, I read all of them because I had absolutely no idea what all the hyperfictions were about. I was hoping that I might get lucky and maybe one of the hyperfictions given would actually make sense. It seemed to get worse as I went from hyperfictions to hyperfictions. I was actually horrified because I thought for a split second that I was becoming senile. I simply could not make sense out of any of the hyperfictions. |
