Under Attack -- What hackers know will harm you: A manager's guide to 'Net Hacking 101' Kelly Jackson Higgins (InternetWeek: March 10,1997, Issue: 653, Section: Feature -- Web Commerce: Security) Review Basically this is a very useful article. All the common forms of hacking are introduced and the writer even gave useful suggestions on what I can do if I realised that somebody is hacking into my computer systems. To the very minimum, I would not panic that much if hacking really takes place. It is a really big relief to know that only five percent of the hackers know how to write codes and have detailed understanding in infiltrating a system or network. Imagine all the hackers to be as good. I would not want to think about the consequences. They would be disastrous! Even though the Net is able to provide us with a lot of information and conveniences, we could never be sure of where the danger is lurking. Danger would just pounce on you if you are unlucky. When that happens, everything will be too late. Be glad if you manage to escape with a few scratches. Think of those who have been maimed. Machines such as the computer would never be able to take over the world, even for a minute. There will not be a possibility as that in the show "Terminator". This is because, human is the one with brains. All machines are created by Man. Man has the solution to almost everything. That is why, I think, no matter how well a security program is written, it is just a matter of time before it gets cracked by some brainy individual. I find it a really big irony in the fast advancing technology. All the problems faced by Man today are actually created by Man himself. I wonder when will Man truly learn his lesson.
