Chapter 10 - The Absolute Destiny, Apocalypse
by Melchoir

“I cannot allow Crono to be hurt!” Lucca thought to herself seriously “And not just for Marle’s sake.”

“We must save Master Crono!” Robo was running fast. Lucca couldn’t catch up. “Crono! We are coming!”

Marshall had actually stopped to look around. The streets were crowded, with odd metal things driving around everywhere. He nearly got run over by a drunken driver in a long yellow one. He calmly drew his sword and attacked it, to no avail. He kept hacking and slashing, running and jumping at the moving vehicle. It did no good. So, he left it alone.

“What’s that?” Marshall pointed to a huge spiny creature that had split the ground apart and was destroying the city with acid rain. “I’ve never seen one of those before.”

            Meanwhile…

Crono got up again. He would destroy Lavos again, a thousand times if need be. “Luminaire!”

The light struck the Lavos, and it slowly died. Then it glowed, and jumped back to life.

“It’s as big as the original Lavos!” Crono swore, “This one wasn’t supposed to have grown to that size! Its Destiny has been changed…!”

The Lavos shot a laser at Crono, who, being a great warrior with immense amount of skills in dodging, took it straight in his chest.

“No…” Crono swore, and hurled himself at Lavos, swinging his sword wildly. “Confuse-Attack!”

He spun around the Lavos, attacking from each angle. He used every attack he had. Finally, he finished up with Luminaire again.

Lavos fell, and slowly died. Then it jumped back to life again with a glow.

“This is impossible…!” Crono swore, “It’s getting bigger!”

“The Absolute Destiny, Apocalypse.” Laguna-Spectre floated above him “Your end shall be here. How long can you last before the world is destroyed, Crono? Can you bring yourself to escape? Can you… *ugh*

In surprise, Laguna-Spectre looked at the gaping hole in her chest. Lucca spun her gun around, and fired again.

“Uzi Punch!” Robo hammered away at the Lavos, which slowly died. Then it started to glow, and sprang back to life.

“Alpha Cutter!” Marshall boldly drew his sword and slash at Lavos, leaving a glowing mark. Lavos slowly died. “So Crono, what happened here?”

            *BANG* *BANG* *BANG*

Lucca kept firing at Laguna-Spectre. Her Solar gun was shooting huge bolts of energy. Laguna was looking amused.

“I will destroy those who harm Crono-sama!” Lucca snarled and thought to herself. “Get ready!”

“How amusing.” Laguna-Spectre gave a chuckle “Of course, this isn’t really my body.”

“Huh?” Lucca stopped firing for a second, and was promptly blown into a nearby wall.

Lavos began to glow, and it sprang back to life.

“So Crono, what happened?” Marshall shook the silent Crono. “Crono, what’s wrong?”

“Hahahahaha.”  Laguna-Spectre shot a few bolts of black lightning at the group. “How amusing. Lavos, my little pet, would you be kind enough to destroy this planet?”

And Lavos began to glow once more. This time, it became of an immensely large size, large to such an extent that many states, even countries could not compare to it in size.

“Lavos, bring the world to its Ultimate Destiny!” Laguna-Spectre gave a loud giggle “The Absolute Destiny: Apocalypse.”

“We have to do something!” Marshall’s face was panic-stricken “We can’t allow it to…”

“Return. Now.” Setsuna appeared nearby. “This has been a trap all along. You were meant to be destroyed here by the enemy. I shall guide you, come!”

“No.” Crono boldly stepped forward “I cannot allow innocent people to die.”

He took off his sunglasses stylishly and flung them to the side.

“I’m staying with you, Crono!” Lucca stood near her old friend.

“I’ll protect you, Crono-sama” She thought to herself.

“This is not your world. You do not need to worry about it.”

“I was made by people in a world such as this. Logically, we should escape. But my ‘heart’ tells me to stay and fight.” Robo stood alongside his partners “Let us fight.”

“She has a point!” Marshall yelled at his companions “We need to go! Come on!”

“No.” Crono and his companions stepped forward towards Lavos. A Gate opened in front of them, and they disappeared.

“Setsuna…” Marshall cursed “What to do…”

“It is to late. We must go.” Setsuna and Marshall faded away.

“Hahahahahaha!” Laguna-Spectre gave a laugh “Now Lavos! Bring the world to the Absolute Destiny!”

Black lightning and acid rain fell on the planet. Blazing flames burned. People from throughout the world screamed in agony as they were killed. Needles flew through the air, killing people as they stood. The wind stood still, and the ground broke. From Lavos, a dome of darkness spread, engulfing the entire world. And then, the bubble exploded.

            “The Absolute Destiny, Apocalypse”

            And there was nothing.

            “The Absolute Destiny, Apocalypse!”

And so, the world of 1999 AD ended, 7 minutes before Y2k would have destroyed it. And our heroes, what happened to them? Were they killed with the world? Did Lavos destroy them? Do they exist? Did they ever? Do any of us exist? Find out on the next exciting installment of…
