Hayle Mail April 17th 1914.
I have been asked hundreds of times from our patrons to keep sending the names of the arrivals to the Cornishman and its chain of papers, and I can promise everyone that from now on I will continue to do so. It seems that the boys out west take a keen interest in which way the Cornish folk are travelling and they sometimes locate a friend that they have lost track of.
This week has been a quiet one, and I have only a few names but next week will be rather heavy as per the Oceanic. I believe there are fifty or more on their way west.
The Cornish Association had their meeting on Saturday April 4th. There were about 40 present. the business of the meeting did not take very long and they then had a very pleasant evening. Mr W Wills of Hayle sang "Pasties & Cream", and several recitations were given by the ladies present.
In my last letter there was a misprint of the date of the Cornish night. It is to be held on the 18th of this month and up to date there have been over three hundred tickets sold. So there will be no question, that it will be a grand sucess. On the tickets they have printed, Saffron Cake, Butter Buns and Pasties, so we are all in for a genuine treat, and the best of all is that it is all to be made by "Cousin Jennies". I will write my patrons the full account of the entertainments.
The Arrivals and departures for the last week are:
Miss Janie Weatherhead, Eveleth, Minnesota, to Pengegon, Camborne.
Charles Whitford, Morenci, Arizona, to Commercial Road, Hayle.
