Hayle Mail July 3rd 1914.

My list of names will be getting less and less from now on until the first week in September as July and August are always very dull months as far as travel is concerned. The S.S. Philadelphia arrived June 21st Sunday morning at eight o-clock. She having left Southampton on June 13th. There were only 135 passengers in the second class cabins and only three Cornish among those. Mrs R. Simms and family from St Austell to Butte City. Mr B Earle from Redruth to Lead City, South Dakota and Frederick Varker from Goldsithney to Beaver Meadow, Pennsylvania. They all remarked on the splendid trip across, the water being like glass all the way over, it was so pleasant.

We had another wedding this week, it seems that since we have moved up town that there is not a week goes by without from one to three weddings taking place. Mr William J. Perry formerly of Gulval, Churchtown, but now of Painesdale, Michigan arrived in New York in time to meet the S.S. Oceanic, on board which was Miss Emma Stevens from Caldwell’s Road, Penzance. They had a nice quiet wedding and after a few days honeymoon in New York, they departed for Painesdale, Michigan, where Mr Perry says he has a very nice little cottage just large enough for two.
