Apologies for non attendance were sent by several Cornishmen, and a very encouraging letter was read from Mr Tom Daniell formerly of Penzance, who is very popular as a singer here, assuring his hearty support of the movement.

At the opening of the meeting Mr J. J. Bennetts in a brief speech spoke of the objects of the Association and the needs arising for it in a City like New York. Mr Benetts; who has spent some time here, told of the many cases which had come under his observation where young men have come to the City from the old country and how through lack of experience they had many difficulties to contend with which could easily be alleviated by an organisation.

The officers elected were:

President:  Mr J. J. Bennetts

Vice President:  Mr G Tippett.

Hon. Treasurer:  Mr G Hill.

Hon. Secretary: Mr L. Richards.

The following were elected to draw up the constitution and bye laws which will be submitted for discussion at the next meeting. Meseers; S Blake, Herbert Collins, Fred. H. Richards; W. Richards; E.W. Sedgman; G. Williams and W.T. Williams.

It is anticipated that within a short time a large number of the Cornish Boys in the neighbourhood of New York will enrol and they can be assured of a very hearty welcome.

At the close of the business meeting light refreshments were served and songs rendered by S.J. Bennetts, formerly of Hayle and Sidney Hill. Mr S Trembath accompanied throughout. A very enjoyable evening was spent.
