Name: Kayla A. Instrument: Trumpet, class of 2001 I am Kay, a senior trumpet player at Charleroi High. The football season has come to an end but marching band still goes on. The band will perform at the Veteran's Day program in Charleroi, the Washington Veteran's Parade, the Charleroi Christmas Parade, and in 2001 the Pittsburgh St. Patrick's Day Parade, and in Bush Gardens, VA. I have enjoyed performing in the band for 5 years and hope to be in a small band after I graduate. I have been through 3 band directors in this short time. It has not been easy and we had a band consisting of many and falling in members every year. I really hope that this changes. You can make new friends, go places, and learn a lot from being a band member. I loved painting the bus and the bus demolition derby at the Washington County Fair, performing at Kennywood, and Disney World, FL. There were both good times and bad times. Riding on the bus, singing, and playing truth or dare was fun. Sitting in the rain, cold, really long bus rides, and some other incidents were not fun. I loved performing in the brass ensemble for Christmas, at senior parties, at the back porch, at Toys R Us, etc. My parents have always supported me, sometimes too much. All in all I have enjoyed my time in the band. Good luck to my fellow trumpet players. To Joe, I wish you success in your trumpet solo career. To Graham, good luck in all you do and have fun. To Jill, you have great leadership skills, use them productively. To Zack, you're a great trumpet player and you're always there to make someone laugh, thank you. To Adam, you're the trumpet section piggy, good luck, keep playing the trumpet and keep up your funny ways. I will miss you all in different ways. Good luck to the rest of the band in the future. Have pride in whatever you do. Mrs. Brown will be there to lift you up. Thanks!! Kay - 11/4/00
Clint Sickles, Class of 2000 I graduated from Charleroi in June of 2000. I am currently attending Youngstown State University to major in Instrumental Music Education. After being through 2 band directors, working with directors throughout Pennsylvania, and working with my professors at the Dana School of Music, I have learned one very important thing. Why am I a musician? I would hope you love what you do. Dr. Stephen Gage, the director of the Symphonic Wind Ensemble and the YSU Marching Pride, asked us one day what makes us come together every day to make music. Most replied because we love it! Others replied, because it is on our schedules. Be the best you can be!! Especially in band. Even on your worst day, when you don't really feel like doing anything at all, practice!!!!!!! Be the best!! Love what you do!! nor be driving a Mercedes untill you EARN BOTH!!"-John Venesky |
