Connecticut's Towns and Counties

Connecticut is home to 169 towns and 8 counties (see map below). The capitol of the state is Hartford, number 64 below. A comprehensive legend is provided below the Connecticut map. Counties are divided into 8 separate colors. On the map the towns are numbered from an alphabetical listing. Connecticut's 169 towns are squeezed into an area of 5,544 square miles (Goode's, 1990). The state is part of the New England region of the U.S., as its southern most state. Connecticut is located between 41degrees and 42 degrees North latitude (Lewis, p 1 1986).
