Elina Mooney, Associate Professor, had her first professional performing experiences with the Tamiris-Nagrin Company and with Charles Weidman who created his Brahms Waltzes on her. She has performed in New York, nationally and internationally with the companies of Paul Sanasardo, Don Redlich, Cliff Keuter, and others. From 1970 to 1976, she directed and choreographed in New York City for the Elina Mooney Dance Company. While in California, she was commissioned by the Australian Dance Theater and choreographed for The San Francisco Moving Co., Pacific Dance Theater, Danceworks, and the New Dance Company of San Jose, with whom she performed as a soloist. She has received numerous commissions and has been on the faculties of Sarah Lawrence College, New York University School of the Arts, San Jose State University, many dance festivals and summer work shops.
