"Michiru is the most elegant, refined girl we know. She's usually
polite, and very soft spoken. She's got a big heart, too: even when the Outers were supposed to be working against
us, it was Michiru who often wanted to lend a hand, and help us out. Michiru tends to be very serious, like
Haruka, and she usually stops to consider her actions a little more than the rest of us do... She used to go to
Mugen Gakuen High School with Haruka and Hotaru, but after we, er, blew it up, she transferred over to Juuban
High School, and wound up with all the rest of us! Michiru's hobbies include painting, swimming, and especially
playing the violin: her ultimate dream is to be a concert violinist, and perform for an audience of thousands! Although she
doesn't seem very forceful, she has a habit of getting what she wants - probably because she never gives up when she's
set her mind to something!"

In her identity of Sailor Neptune, Michiru
has power over the element of water. She lacks the sheer offensive power of some of the other
Outer Senshi, though is still a capable warrior in her own right. She wields the Deep Aqua
Mirror, a hand mirror which is one of the three talismans needed to summon the Holy Grail.
Possibly her greatest strength is her determination - only rarely can she ever be distracted from the
task at hand. Her one weakness is her love for Haruka Ten'ou: when Sailor Uranus is in danger, Sailor
Neptune has been known to endanger herself trying to protect her partner.

Michiru Kaioh is the Sailor Senshi of the planet Neptune. In Roman
mythology, Neptune was the god of the sea, brother of Jupiter and Pluto. The Neptune in legend was far less gentle than
the Senshi who bears his name, often blamed for causing shipwrecks, and, among other things, forcing Odysseus out upon
his long journey, refusing to allow the sailor to return home. Although usually much better-temperd, Michiru can be
just as violent and tempestous as her namesake, particularly when her lover Haruka is in trouble. Michiru had actually
discovered her Senshi powers before Haruka, who found her own henshin in order to protect Michiru from an attacking
youma.

Michiru Kaioh's japanese voice actor, or seiyuu, was
Masako Katsuki. Katsuki is also known for her roles in other popular anime, such as Kimie in
Crying Freeman, Zakuro in Ninja Scroll, Fuwa in Pat Labour, Humpty Dumpty in
Miyuki-chan In Wonderland, Yuko in Maison Ikkoku, as well as Reiko Kashibara and Miko Akaiki in
Gunbuster. She also provided the original japanese voice for Kayura, in Yoroiden Samurai Troopers.

In the english dub of Sailor Moon, the role of "Michelle
Kaioh" is played by Barbara Radecki. Barbara has also performed the roles of Queen Serenity and Sarena's
Mother in earlier seasons of Sailor Moon. |
