FOUNTAIN - Eli Fountain - Well known Detroit musician
Eli Fountain died Sunday, Feb. 2 of a heart attack. Mr. Fountain died in his sleep at the age of 61. A noted jazz saxophonist,
he was one of the original Motown studio musicians who helped define the Motown sound. He worked with such superstars as Frank
Sinatra, Isaac Hayes, Marvin Gaye, the Temptations, Supremes, Mavis Staples and Johnny Taylor. Most recently he toured with
the Dramatics and has worked with numerous other famous entertainers. Mr. Fountain is survived by five sons, Eli Philip, Gary,
Leslie, Marcus and Myron; a brother, Joe Fountain Jr., and many other relatives and friends. (Michigan Chronicle, February
