Last Month's Tactical Question and Answer

Last Month's Tactical Quesiton

Your destruction of the Empire's seven Assault Gunboat squadrons are losses that they cannot easily replace- congratulations. Reconaissance reports are sketchy but we have reason to believe that the Empire is building its strength for a decisive blow deep within our recent conquests. We believe that if they are successful in such an attempt of destroying our capabilities to fight in this region than citizens loyal to them will rebel against our rule. This is unacceptable, therefore we are letting you use something few commanders would ever use- the MC-90 Deliverence. With your Strike Cruiser Warspite, the Quasar Fire Carrier-Cruiser Hive and the Victory-class Star Destroyers Dubious and Reckless you should be able to quickly wipe out any remnants of their pitiful fleet...

That's at least what you were lead to believe while travelling through hyperspace. Almost immedietely after dropping out of hyperspace you fleet met face-to-face with an Imperial task force of two Imperial I class Star Destroyers and three Marauder Corvettes and one Strike Crusier as well as an Interdictor Cruiser. Your mission objective is to survive, the fate of your fleet only you can decide...

Note: You have three B-Wing squadrons lauched from the Deliverence, four X-Wing squadrons launched from the Hive, and six E-Wing squadrons lauched from the Warspite, Dubious and Reckless. The empire has all of its fighters launched and they accumulate to three TIE Bomber squadrons, and the remainder are TIE Starfighter squadrons (some fourteen squadrons in all). Also note that although the Interdictor isn't yet listed in my archives the necessary info is listed as follows: 20 quad laser cannons, gravity well generators and two squadrons of starfighters.

Correct Answer #1

First delpoy the X-wings to engage the fighters. Then send The Mc-90 and the victory star destroyers to one ISD. Put the Mc-90 at the point in the front position the to VSDs in front of the bridge but one on each side.
Have them fire away and do as much damage to the turbo lasers
While that is happening put the B-wings in single file at the point of the ISD. but keep them out of range of the Star Destroyer. Use the Hive and Warspite against there strike cruiser.attack in a 2 way proong attack with the first prong the Hive and the second prong the Warspite.
Order the E-wings to attack the Corvettes.use al of them on one ship at a time.
Now back to the ISDs send the B-wings to stay low and go straight up the middle of the Imperial Star Destroyer while firing away with their Proton torpedoes and Ion Cannons.the Isd will either be destroyed by the warships and B-wings or be completly disabled from the ion cannons.
once the 1st isd seems it can no longer pose any threatmove on to the next one and repeat the same tactic
Once the E-wings finish off the Marauders send them to help hit the engines of the ISD.Once the 2nd ISD is disabled finish off whatever is left besides the fighters and Interdictor.
Then use all fighters against the TIEs and put the ships in pairs to surround the cruiser from a resonable distance and move in and fire with laser cannons and blast it in to an oblivion.
As for the remaining fighters leave them to die!

Correct Answer #2

The Quasar-fire would firstly stay out of the fighting. The
Victory-class Star Destroyers would engage the ISD in broad side side
combat, while the MC90 would go after the Interdictor Cruiser. During
this, the Strike Cruiser would hunt down the Marauder Corvettes. The 3
B-Wings squadrons would assist the Victory Star Destroyers against the
ISDs, by trying to destroy the shield generator domes and by racking
ISDs with laser, ion cannon and proton torpedo fire. The all of the
E-Wings and 2 X-Wing squadrons would dealt with the TIE Fighters, while
the remaining two squadrons of X-Wings would take out the TIE Bombers
quickly. Once the MC90 is in range of the Interdictor, it will use its
tractor beams to hold the Interdictor in place while its uses its
turbolasers to take down the shields. Once the shields are down, the
MC90 would switch to ion cannons to allow the Interdictor to be
captured. The Strike Cruiser would also use the same tactic. Once the
MC90 is completed its task it would make its way back to assist the
VSDs. Once the shields of the ISD collapse, they would be disabled. Once
the two X-Wing squadrons destroy the TIE Bombers, they would come to
assist the other NR fighters to quickly eliminate remaining Imperial
opposition. If the ISD captains turn traitor by surrendering, then the
ISDs can be captured, but if they do not, then the ISDs would be
destroyed.
