No Human lasts a full 24
hours! (Unpredictability of
"human" not shown.)
These are "OLD" Activity
curves for Human Insulins. They are not
particularly correct!!

Ultralente,
PZI and Lente "animal" do last a
full 24 hours!
This is a bit difficult
to read but comes from a 1968 medical text
regarding the "activity curves" of
"Animal" insulins. It is not
particularly accurate but supports the
notion that that there are definite timing
differences between human and
"animal." Unfortunately,
"animal" is not defined and may
have been pork or beef or both.

A
look at "long acting insulin" by species:
Perhaps these two
charts show the differences best at the true
basal levels. At least we are
comfortable that the data is accurate.
If the data above isn't
convincing, for UL, one can look at the
impact of the tails and peaks of 12 hour BID
injection over a typical 48 hour period
after the initial 36 hour stabilization
below:
These
differences by species clearly overshadow
even the differences by insulin type!
