BALTIMORE, October 18 Two seasons ago, the Boston Red Sox rode the Impossible Dream to an American League championship. Well, dont pinch Gil Hodges and his New York Mets as they are now living the "preposterous dream". The Mets captured their first worlds championship with a dramatic come-from-behind 6-3 victory over the Baltimore Orioles and Jim Palmer in Game 6 of the 1969 World Series. Tommie Agee hit a two-run and eventual game-winning homer in the top of the eighth.

Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale, a tale of a fateful trip, That started in this tropic port, aboard this tiny ship. The mate was a mighty sailin' man, the Skipper brave and sure. Five passengers set sail that day for a three hour tour. A three hour tour.

The weather started getting rough, the tiny ship was tossed. If not for the courage of the fearless crew, the Minnow would be lost. The Minnow would be lost. The ship set ground on the shore of this uncharted desert isle,
with Gilligan,

C'mon you know the rest.... the Skipper too, the millionaire and his wife...

-- The current committee consists of; Andrea O'Connor, Dennis Bishop, Harriet Lowe, Shelley Kashuk, Pam Markert, Doreen Borracino, Myra Aframe, Lynn Berman, Phil Feinzeig & Robyn Forman.

-- This email from Bob Epstein was too amusing not to share; I was a bit shocked yesterday to (finally) notice I had missed the reservation deadline by eight days. Any chance I can still get a good seat outside the building so I can press my nose up against the window? I sent my check in yesterday - even if it is too late. (I will be coming alone. Wife Wendy (23rd anniversary this past June) is not interested in seeing how silly I can get at a reunion - she gets to see how silly I am the rest of the time). (ed note: Whatdayathink class of 1969 there are alot of windows? Bob's email is also in the guest book if you want to say hello.)

-- Nancy Linde indicates she will be unable to attend as she is only 49. She doesn't turn 50 till next year. Ok, how did we let a 49er into our midsts? Actually, maybe we should all stay at 49.

And from REINHARD BARTELMANN's on 7/2/01;
To sing and dance that lovely night, recall some memories' delight. To see again those faces fair, now far from youth with far less hair. A life that's more than half past done. One wonders could it still be fun, to meet again the friends we knew, a lover sweet, a dear once true. But time will tell for time is sweet. Unless I go I'm less complete. So, steady now this hesitant hand, slide the mouse and let it land. Why hesitate, just click it free. There, it's done, sent R.S.V.P.

-- American School Pictures; Just Received the Reunion Book. I cannot believe how poor the overall Quality is. I will not speak for the committee on this but as a member of the committee, I can assure everyone that American School pictures "promised" us that the quality would be superb! I can also tell you that there was one heck of a debate on using these people again. It is certain, that I would never support them in the future. You can return the booklet for a full refund and I personally apologize for the poorest of poorest pictures. At least the 'portraits' look at least avg. Unfortunately, it is the only committee picture.... Well that is what we get when we believe the marketing and promises.

====================================
What a great night it was. The Reunion was a hit and we want to thank all who came and all who were with us in Spirit. We, as those who were not able to make it in for lots of good reasons - are as disappointed.

Wasn't it wonderful to see Mr. Chiras, Mrs. Barnard & MS. Edgington. Everyone was having such an enjoyable time we almost forgot about the evening program. It was just GREAT to see old faces and friends along with some now new friends that (I personally) we never met during the school years.

The evening got off to a rousing start with God Bless America. The class of '69 collected $100.00 for the relief fund efforts in NYC. The candle lighting went better than planned and we gave a new meaning to singing Happy Birthday. Even better, it was Jonathan Ostrow's 50th birthday. I almost got most of you to sign the yearbook, and then as always it made its way around to different tables, but I will catch up on those that once again got away.

We also had some classmates, Becky, & DiAnna showing up for the first time. Josh Gordon drove up from New York. There are just too many too mention but the pictures, once developed, will tell the rest of the story. One interesting point to note, is how many times can you mess up the Electric Slide. The good news is - once old people (me included) get the timing down - it is magnificant.

Bloodhound 1st Class Awards went to - Karen Freidberg, Ricky Ellbeg & Dan the TREE Robbins. The door prizes were a great hit! Thank-you to everyone who went the extra mile to bring one. Mike Nockunas took the gag gift for Still Wild and Crazy Hat after all these years. We hear the food was delicious.

The DJ's finally got the decibel level under control - and just in time as we were going to let Lynn tee off on them. John Hilton brought with him, the 1st 18 editions of the Highlander Newsletter. I actually had them in my hands for five minutes. Harry Alexanian & the Mrs., showed us how to dance to Saturday Night Fever and one of the kodak moments: Mike Nockunas holding a beanie babie & candy bar.

As always these affairs are never long enough and the evening goes too fast. We will have pictures available in the next week and will post them on the 50thBirthday Event Page. We also appreciate all the kudos about this web site and we will keep it going so we can all stay in touch. Remember to FILL OUT the questionaire (also on the forms page so you can download) so we can keep adding bios.

Some of us went down stairs after the midnight hour and took in the dancing and music. About 2am we called it a wrap and said again our farewells. Till the next time, that is.

We want to thank the following for providing all the Door Prizes & Gag Gifts.
-- The entire 50th BDay Reunion Committee
-- Tatnuck Books - gift certificate
-- Higgins Museum & Armory (ok, so I didn't get the dog) - a tote bag and coffee mug
-- Oldies 98.7 - a hodgepodge tote bag
-- Anne Chojnicki - a great looking tie from her collection
-- Arlene Myers - a wonderful cape code basket
-- Dan 'the tree' Robbins - a tremendous Maine basket
