Sonic 3D Blast

(Now Playing: Green Grove Zone, Act One, from Sonic 3D Blast for Genesis.)

Sonic 3D Blast is another sort of...controversial game. Controversial in the sense that there's some argument over which version is better--Saturn or Genesis. Well, actually, I'M just about the entire argument--most consider the Saturn version better, because it is more textured, has weather effects, etc.--and better music. I'll give them the visual part, after all, the Saturn IS 32-bit compared to the Genesis's 16. But the more "primitive" Genesis version is the only one I own, and let me tell you, its music ROCKS!
The Saturn version's music is slow, quiet, and atmospheric, and, well, for the most part, BORING. I know I'm gonna get my block knocked off for that but I don't care; catchy and fast is MY thing. Oh, sure, the Diamond Dust theme is kinda pretty and VERY "cold" sounding, (but not as much as the original IceCap from Sonic 3), Volcano Valley is heroic, and Spring Stadium is cute, but the Rusty Ruin Zone music, one of the most highly-praised songs in all of Sonic-dom, almost quite LITERALLY made me fall asleep!
On the other hand, the Genesis version's songs are bouncy, dramatic, loud, full of energy, and just plain fun. Maybe it's not CD quality, but the TUNES, the melodies, are just a lot more interesting. They were also written by the same guy who wrote that Soundtrack of Soundtracks, Sonic Adventure's music (WHOO! PARTY TIME! EXCELLENT! ;)), Jun Senoue, so ya KNOW they've gotta be good. (And if Windy Valley and Twinkle Park sound kinda familiar...now ya know why...)
But to please both sides, both versions are included here, Genesis AND Saturn. Bon appetit.

music-loving Mobians and Floating Islanders have been here since November 14, 1999. Of course, they were all mutated and mangled in the Gene Gadget Zone, but hey...
