The Interdimensional Vortex

Now Playing: Stardust Speedway: Bad Future from Sonic CD.

Step through the vortex to another universe...which one, no-one knows, until you get there...Here you can visit NON-Sonic pages that I find of interest around the web. Take a look! (Basically, I'm using this page to show that I do indeed HAVE other interests besides Sonic...) Mind you, this is not necessarily stuff that I think YOU might like. It's _my_ favourite links. Some of these sites might bore you or have no interest for you. You should be warned that there is above PG-rated content on a few of these pages.
NOTE: (February 2002) I have just plain taken most of the broken links down, as I couldn't find them again. I also added some new links. Enjoy!

The '80s Server
The very first website I ever visited and I still consider it to be one of the best. If you want to know anything, and I mean just about ANYTHING, about the "Awesome Eighties", this is THE site to visit! If they don't have it, they'll have a link to it in their "Totally Awesome Site of the Day--Past Picks" section. (I found the midi file that plays on the main Sandopolis page by searching through there!) Stop by the "OnBoard" Forum if you get a chance--it's a very lively message board.

Here Lies the Link for the Centre for the Easily Amused.
It was a very good site.
They had games and mad libs and nifty stuff, and they linked to me.
But now it is dead.
Rest in Peace, C.E.A....

Music Trivia Links
This is not really a page, just a simple listing of links to music trivia quizzes all over the web, covering all kinds of music. Music history is one of my passions, and so is trivia, so you can see why I like this list!

The Internet Movie Database
A GREAT resource for almost any information you might want about movies, T.V. shows, and T.V. movies from all decades and even all countries! In fact, this might quite rightfully be considered THE source for all that stuff. If you can't find it here, you can probably find a link to it.

The Addventurers
No, that's not a typo or a spelling error. ADDventure. As in, it's an interactive story site, like a Choose-Your-Own-Adventure, but you can actually ADD your own episodes to it, and extend it almost indefinitely! I say "almost" because disk space problems tend to shut the game down every now and then. Right now you can't add to it, but you can still read. It's a fun story, but beware of all the porn--despite the fact that the rules on the front page SAY it's supposed to be rated PG, there are TONS of things in there that could make Howard Stern blush! So don't let your kids click on this link, parents. However, if you ignore all the porn, there ARE some genuinely decent storylines to be found in this game.

Gav and Peloso's Interactive Story Site
Another "addventuring" site, this one actually DOES keep itself as clean as it's supposed to be. Not as dynamic as Addventure, and it lacks the nice little features such as an automatic e-mail to let you know when someone's added on to your story that Addventure has, but it's a LOT cleaner, classier, and more coherent. The downside to this is that you have to wait for your episodes to get added because a human has to physically read them first and edit them for content if necessary. But if you want a CLEAN interactive story site, go here.

Shilla II: The Dark Times
Speaking of games you can play on a Webtv, here's a good one. Shilla is an interactive RPG in which you can create your own character, build them up, meet other interesting people, chat with them in real time while playing--and KILL them. Or most likely just die repeatedly (the way I have an unfortunate tendency to do...) Anyway, it's a fun game. HARD, but fun. If you like fantasy RPG's and have a few hours to kill, give it a whirl. I play there under the name of "Espio" (neener neener I already got that name, you can't have it, ha, ha ha ha, ha) the Black Elf, so if you see me, feel free to say "hi" to me in the built-in chatroom.

The Mistings Archive
Run by "Pinky", this is a place where you can read all kinds of "mistings" of various fanfics--including many Sonic!--and just LAUGH YOUR HEAD OFF. (Unless of course you happen to be one of the original authors...eek!) If you don't know what "Misting" or MST3K is, then I ain't gonna explain them to ya, the show's only been on for the last TEN YEARS! Anyway, trust me, it's hilarious.

The Video Game Music Archive
Like it says, you can find all kinds of video game music from all kinds of systems here. My main problem with it is that when you do the "search" feature, it does not take you DIRECTLY to the exact thing you wanted, but rather to the page it's on. And sometimes, with a Webtv, you get that annoying "This page is too big to be shown completely" message before you manage to scroll down to the thing you wanted! (For example, I can't get into the Final Fantasy music because of that.) Aside from that, though, it's a pretty cool site, so if you want video game music for your page, go here.

The Phantasy Star Pages
One of the best websites for the Phantasy Star enthusiast that exists, as far as I can tell. I myself have only played #s 3 and 4 but I LOVE them (especially #4) and this page has TONS of info! Pictures, midis, walkthroughs, character bios, fanfic, fanart, poetry, humour, and more--it's all here, for all of the PS games. Just watch out for falling spoilers!

Snow Scorpion Studios
Formerly a partially-Sonic site, Snow Scorpion studios has redesigned itself and is now back with a vengeance--as an all-Descent site! Personally I do not care for the Descent games, but I know many Sonic fans who do, so if you like them, this is the site for you. I can't tell you how accurate or complete the information is that he has, because, like I said earlier, I don't KNOW the games, but it looks to be a pretty high-quality site. Worth a look!

The Enchanted Forest
An extremely low-tech and low-key fantasy exploring game that can be surprisingly addictive. Enchanted Forest is simple, yet fun, and it works on Webtv. If you're looking for an enjoyable game that won't crash your browser or take forever to load, Enchanted Forest is for you. (Oh, and it's free.)

Nintendo Fights
Yes, I know this is a Sega page, but I've been a long-time Nintendo gamer and this page made me laugh! If you, like me, are also a Nintendo old-schooler AND you are not offended easily by swearing and blood (very, very, very FAKE-looking cartoon blood) then come give this site a look. It's HILARIOUS!

Kiss This Guy.com--the Source for Misheard Lyrics on the Web
Named after a very famous misheard lyric (from Jimi Hendrix's "Purple Haze"--the ACTUAL line is "'Scuse me while I kiss THE SKY")--this website is FUN-NNNEEEE! It contains all kinds of side-splitting messed-up lyrics from songs of all eras and styles, and they are all real, sent in by people like yourself! (I think they even have a couple of mine there, too.) If you are interested in music of any kind and want a good laugh, go here.

VH1
Says it all, really. The website of the music channel that I consider to be the best--I don't CARE if Empty-V is "cooler" or "trendier"; they don't play MUSIC anymore! And when they do, it's not the stuff I like. MTV does things like Beavis and Butthead reruns, stupidity sports, "Singled Out", and much, much worse. But VH1 RESPECTS your intelligence by giving you shows such as Rock and Roll Jeopardy--where you have to know a LOT about pop music history, and know it FAST--an in-depth, ten-part documentary on the entire history of rock-and-roll, and the popular and funny "Pop-Up Video". If you want an INTELLIGENT music channel, one that teaches you interesting things AND plays decent songs, you'll watch VH1. And their website will tell you when what you're the most interested in is coming on, so you CAN watch it.

Animal Pictures from Around the World
A GREAT resource for pictures of all kinds of REAL animals, from the common to the obscure. If you've ever wondered what a real echidna looks like as compared to Knuckles, for example, this is the site for you. A great aid to fanfic writing and drawing--sometimes, going back to the original source can give you an inspiration for where to take the cartoon-version character. (At least, that sometimes works for me...) At any rate, a very comprehensive and useful resource.

Ranma 1/2
One of my favourite websites about the anime show "Ranma 1/2" is this one. Ranma 1/2 is a hilariously funny series about "a guy who turns into a girl, a father who turns into a panda, and the weird Chinese curse what did it to 'em! Yin and Yang have never been as fun!"
Ranma 1/2 is basically...a martial-arts romantic comedy. Hard to explain, but basically there are several characters who turn into different things when splashed with cold water, and turn back to their real form when splashed with HOT water. (Not the WHOLE cast, just a few people.) Most people are either out to kill or marry someone else; occasionally both. ;) There are tons of really good action-packed yet strange and FUNNY martial-arts battles. It's well-written, pretty well drawn, well-dubbed (in my opinion) and full of colourful, fun characters.

The Chrono Trigger Temple.
Yes, yes, I'm one of the legions who really liked the game Chrono Trigger...now that I've finally PLAYED it. Heh. The game is, yes, a _Nintendo_ game, but it's a very creative, complex, and fun offering involving all kinds of time-travel, re-writing history itself, danger, drama, romance, humour, you know, the usual. And the graphics may be primitive by today's standards but I think they're rather cute. Anyway, click above if you want to know more about the game (or if you're STUCK on it, which is the reason _I_ first went to that site...)

The Anime Turnpike
Basically, this is your stop for almost ANYTHING anime-related you might like! The site is HUGE. So I'll shut up and let _it_ do its own talking.

Fanfiction.net
Yes, it's Fanfiction.net, the web's biggest archive of fanfiction anywhere. That's not to say that you can find ANY story there, of course, but they do have an awful lot, and it's categorised for easy finding and viewing--when the site is up, that is. :P I haven't yet released any of my real fanfics there, but you can find my MSTing of Final Fantasy 6 in the Final Fantasy section...

Final Fantasy Forever
And speaking of which...there are many good Final Fantasy sites out there, so I picked one at random...I rather like this one because of the information they have on the _earlier_ games, as well as the later ones. Personally, I couldn't care less about 9, 10, and especially 11 (which is an INTERNET multiplayer game that you have to PAY for--_eeewwww_), since I don't plan to buy a Playstation. 7 and 8 were released for the computer so I could play them too, but....if it's Sony-only, I'm not there. Anyway, this is a cool site, enjoy.

Greetings from Babylon 5!
One of my favourite sci-fi shows--behind Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, that is--here is the official website of Babylon 5. There are of course lots of other sites about it out there (including my own "Centauri Prime") but this is a pretty good jumping-off point, and a good place for a newbie to the show, or just a curious random wanderer, to start off from.

The Intergalactic Explorer Test"
I'm a sucker for wacky personality tests and quizzes, ain't I? This test tells you what kind of science-fiction character you would be, if you found yourself suddenly in that kind of universe. I thought it was hysterically funny, myself. Can't remember what my own results were though....

E-Mode Personality Tests
And SPEAKING of which...this site has got to be the _motherlode_ of goofy personality tests, although it's got some serious ones in there, too. From taking the tests there, I discovered such interesting "factoids" as: If I were a Goddess, I'd be Artemis, the Hunter; my "flavour" is mocha, my "TV Family" is the Jetsons and my "superpower" is Time Travel! (NEAT!) To find out these things and more about yourself, visit the link above! Seriously fun site.

Kingdomality
This is yet another personality quiz...this one tells you what your "ideal career" would be, as so many others do...but with a TWIST: This test tells you what you would have been back in _medieval_ times! Cool stuff. (It told me I was a Bard, incidentally.)

Pure Emulation 2000
This is THE ultimate site for emulators and ROMS as far as I'm concerned. They have at least a little bit of everything and a LOT of a lot of things, also a messageboard where the weird but basically friendly locals (they don't bite..._much_) will be more than willing to help you with any technical or gameplay problems you might be having. So many other emulation sites give you the ATTACK OF THE KILLER POP-UP ADS (and I don't mean just one, I mean TONS of them, _layered_, and programmed so that every time you close one, TWO OTHERS open in its place...) and broken links or random links that lead you to some disgusting _porn_ site for some odd reason, but Pure Emulation 2000 operates on a new and novel concept:
Just. Shut. Up. And. Give. You. The. Damn. GAMES!!!!!!
Simple, elegant, and chock full of--wow!--actual CONTENT! What more could you ask for?

Shinji's Vault of Anime MSTings
The other really great MSTings archive out there, this one has a lot of stuff you can find at Pinky's, but also a lot of stuff you can't. (Including some of my own MSTings.) This one has a more anime feel, but you don't HAVE to have watched every single popular anime show there is to get any of the jokes; I myself have only seen a few series and only bits of those, and I like this site a lot. My personal favourite MSTings are the ones by Megane 6.7, but that's just me...Anyway, another fun site.

Test Junkie
Yes, yet another page of personality tests! The difference between the other ones and this page is that these ones are _serious_, and meant to tell you more what job you should REALLY go for, how to REALLY help your relationship, or if you actually have something wrong with your health or not. It's still interesting, though, just don't expect much of a _laugh_ out of this site.

The Brunching Shuttlecocks
This is one of those sites that is just bizzarreness personified. They are very strange. They are sometimes very funny. They have different things up every day. Go have a look if you like.

L-Space, the Ultimate Discworld Site
Discworld is the SUPER-funny, super-weird, super-original fantasy series by Terry Pratchett. It is British humour, which means strangeness, sarcasm and lots of biting wit (if you've read Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy or seen any Monty Python you will kinda vaguely know what to expect, style-wise.) The series has been going since 1982 but I just started reading it for something new to try last year, and since then it has become one of my ALL-TIME FAVOURITE SERIES _EVER_!! It might not be for you, but Discworld is a very fun place to visit, so, through this website, why don'tcha give it a little try?

Animated Lust--Rated PG!
Despite the name, this site really IS just rated PG...although sometimes some of the messageboard denizens can get a little raunchy. Heh. This is a very interactive and informative site about all kinds of cartoons, run by a very nice and understanding webmistress. Yes, you can go to the messageboard and drool over which cartoon characters you find hot, but you can ALSO just use this site for _information_ about cartoons, such as voice-actors, directors, writers, what year things came out and more. It's a really neat place.

What Video Game Character Am I?
This quiz tells you which really OLD-SCHOOL video game character you would be. As in, from the _Atari_ days. Are you Donkey Kong, a Defender Ship, Pitfall Harry, an Asteroid, or something else? This pointless but cute little quiz will tell you.

The Phantasy Star Online Zone
This is a simply _fantabulous_ site for the OTHER really famous Dreamcast game made by Sonic Team--and no, I don't mean Sonic Adventure _2_--Phantasy Star Online! I have played the game a bit, I've got two characters, but I can't go on-line with it so I can't get the full enjoyment. Anyway, this is a truly superb page about the Dreamcast addition to the proud Phantasy Star tradition.

Tomobiki-Cho: The Urusei Yatsura Website
Urusei Yatsura roughly translates as "Those Obnoxious Aliens!" and with a title like _that_, you'd expect humour to follow, right? You'd be correct. UY is an old-school anime that started in the early '80s and the animation is kind of rough, but it is still DROP-DEAD FUNNY. It's written/drawn by Rumiko Takahashi (or rather the original manga series that the anime is based off of is), the same lady who brought us Ranma 1/2. In UY, an extremely lecherous--and extremely _unlucky_--Earth teenager named Ataru Moroboshi accidentally gets paired up with Lum, a gorgeous alien babe--who can shock him with 50,000 volts of electricity if he even so much as LOOKS at another woman! (And Ataru being Ataru, he usually does (or TRIES to do) a heck of a lot MORE than just "look".) Along the way, many other strange aliens come to Earth and join the cast, and the mix of Japanese culture, slapstick, hormone-fueled High-school high-jinks and high-tech science fiction makes for one heck of an entertaining show. And Tomobiki.com, named after Ataru's high school, is the best site out there for it.

Home of the Underdogs--NEW! (March 27, 2002)
I can't believe it took me this long to get this link up here...Home of the Underdogs is one of THE coolest sites out there, _period_. What is it? It's an abandonware site. "Abandonware" is software that is no longer being sold/supported by the company, and is therefore very hard to find nowadays, but it can still be very good games, that are getting lost. So, basically, Home of the Underdogs has tons of cool older computer games that you can't find anymore, for you to download and play, for FREE! It's like the computer version of what emulator/ROM sites do for older _console_ games. It's a truly awesome site. They have HUGE variety, lots of information; if you have a technical problem you can ask on the technical help messageboard and they can probably answer your question...it's well-organised...truly an awesome site. If you have any interest in classic gaming at all, give Home of the Underdogs a try.

721 weary tourists have tried to journey outside the entire Sonic universe and to another dimension since May 22, 1999. But they all got sucked into the Twilight Zone (it's next to the Starlight Zone) and were never heard from again...
