Martha Price's Biography

Martha is a natural born performer who has developed her talent with music, singing, acting, dancing, and public speaking.

Martha PriceMartha Price was born into a family of musicians. Her mother plays viola in a symphony orchestra, her father sang in a barbershop quartet and plays bass guitar, an aunt teaches violin and plays in a chamber orchestra, another aunt sings in a swing band, a grandfather played trumpet in dixieland jazz bands, her other grandfather played banjo, guitar and mandolyn in a popular music band, and her grandmother played piano and arranged songs for the family's musical group "The Versatiles".

Her desire to perform appeared at age 3 when she would independently stroll from table to table and sing to patrons at local restaurants.

Martha has been receiving music lessons since age 4, including violin lessons for 12 years, dance lessons for 9 years, percussion for 6 years, and vocal lessons for 7 years. She is self-taught with guitar and ukelele.

At age 7, Martha performed at Laurel Music Camp, playing solo violin with piano accompaniment. She has attended Laurel Music Camp for 10 years.

She started playing the drum set and other percussions instruments at the age of 12 and playing acoustic and electric guitar at age 14.

She was active in the high school’s music department, participating in Wind Ensemble, Chamber Singers, and the female vocal ensemble, Encore. With these ensembles, Martha competed in Quebec, Disney, and Virginia Beach. She was also a soloist in the RHAM Pop’s Concert for three years. In her senior year, Martha was awarded the RHAM Music Boosters Scholarship as well as the Connecticut Teacher Association Performing Arts Award.

Martha Price has performed in various musicals, including the part of Minnie Fay in "Hello Dolly", February 2007, and "Once Upon A Mattress" in May 2008. Martha also participated in a soap opera and commercial acting course taught my Ron Millkie in New York City.

She took dance lessons at Glastonbury Dance Center for six years, studying hip-hop, ballet, tap, jazz, and lyrical. For many summers, she attended Laurel Music Camp, and was a counselor at Hartford County 4-H Camp.

Martha has an active involvement in journalistm. She is a freelance writer and has authored blogs on beauty cosmetics and activities in the beauty pageant world. Martha is also a contributing author to “The Sibling Slam Book”, where young adults with disabled or special needs siblings write about their experiences. In college, Martha wrote for the school paper "The Wagnerian".

In 2007, Martha was chosen Hebron Harvest Fair Queen. Since then, she has competed in pageants and won the Miss Bristol, Miss Hartford and Miss Wethersfield pageants in the Miss American Scholarship Program.

Martha was awarded the Music and Academic Scholarship at Wagner College. Martha graduated from Wagner College Magna Cum Laude in 2012 as an Arts Administration major with a double minor in French and Journalism. She was the Special Events Coordinator for Society of Arts Administration Students and was invited to join Alpha Mu Theta - the Arts Administration Honors Society.

Martha has been involved in charitable organizations and fundraising for several years. Martha was a sister and philanthropy chair of Alpha Delta Pi. During her pageant involvement, Martha Price’s platform was the Ronald McDonald’s House Charity, whose mission is to create, find and support programs that directly improve the health and well being of children. They provide temporary housing for families when their child needs hospital care in a location far from home.

After receiving a Bachelor's degree in Performing Arts Management at Wagner College, Martha continued her training and now has a career as a flight attendant with a major airline.

Martha's career as an airline attendant for a major airline has enabled her to travel and experience other cultures and environments.
