THE KL AND PETRONAS TWIN TOWER
After Breakfast in Malacca we will proceed to Kuala
Lumpur, the capital city of Malaysia.
Like Malacca five hundred years before, KL's commercial
centre is a grand meeting place for merchants and travelers from
all over the world.
In 1857, this is where it all began at a confluence of two
rivers a group of 87 miners, all of them Chinese, poled their
way up the valley in search of tin. At that time, tin was in
huge demand, especially by America and the British Empire, which
needed the durable, lightweight metal to help fuel their
industrial revolutions. In Ampang, few miles to the east, there
were huge reserves of it, and this spot was the highest point
where the prospectors could land their supplies. They named it
"muddy confluence," OR Kuala Lumpur.
More tin prospectors, however, soon followed, and within a
few years the village thrived..............from a TIN TOWN TO A
TOWER CITY.
In the same way, the city brings together Malaysia's past and
present, its many constituent cultures, and even its remarkable
natural treasures, allowing first-time visitors an invaluable
opportunity to see Malaysia as a whole before setting off to
explore its parts

aptly dubbed Malaysia's "cloth of gold", is a
proud
legacy of the Kelantan and Pattani courts. Once
strictly
reserved for royalty , songket is now
used for ceremonial occasions and weddings . Richly woven
with gold or silver
threads, songket was the
dramatic consequence of the
region's early trade with with
China (which supplied the silk)
and India (gold and silver
threads)

THE WAU
Kelantan is the home of giants
kites that soar through the air with nary a care in the world .
Kite-flying usually takes place after the harvest when farmers
have time on their hands to fashion and fly these wau .
There are many different types of kites wau kuching (cat
kite), wau merak( peacock kite), wau bulan (moon
kite) to name a few.
Kite-making requires tremendous

son. Along the road to Pantai Cahaya Bulan, there are many such
establishments producing these gaily-decorated kites. These
